>That's what three years of (((Early Access)))?
Actually I doubled checked and it was first on sale at the end of 2013 and started development in 2012. That's six fucking years of development and four of Early Access just for something that still apparently has bugs.

>three years of (((Early Access)))?
No fucking way it's ONLY been 3 years. Either way I can't imagine anyone giving a shit about this game after all the other clones and rehashes that have been competently released with large player counts over the course of this games dev life.

I remember playing it on LAN in 2001/2002, played exactly like DayZ but people tended to group up instead of just shooting each other. Had bigger zombie hordes than DayZ that would run after you, find loot in houses on the way, try to survive! Very difficult with random spawns and a heavy fog effect bringing the view distance down. Great fun!

Cosmetic microtransactions and random item crates are the only things Valve really pioneered. Your predictable next statement is false as well: cinematicism in video games had existed years prior to the Half Life series.

My only regret is I can't personally strangle the damn idiots who defended this shit long after it was clear that it wouldn't be anything close to the mod it was based off of.
Any unlucky subhuman attempt to play this recently? Last I played they still couldn't have players establish a permanent base, mostly thanks to the fact barrels and other storage you could set up would despawn randomly, along with all the shit you placed in in.

There was an ArmA 2 mod like that I played exactly one time with a group of milsim autists (friendly though) after their scheduled events were done for the day. I was on their VoIP server and they changed the map to almost exactly what you described. Our objective was to siphon enough fuel by looking around the island to fuel up a helicopters and leave. Easily the most fun zombie experience I ever had, we managed to get a working humvee with .50 cal and there was an intense moment where I got to man the .50 against a horde running at us in open road. We had split the team and the rest were scavenging houses nearby, we didn't want to waste fuel so we weren't just driving the hummer from house to house like you'd typically expect. Stayed up well into the wee hours playing before we won.
