But, the very basis of Buddhism is a desire: to become like the Buddha and reach enlightenment (Which creates a paradox, if you will). And, going by the teachings of the guy I posted (Who teaches Seon Buddhism, Korean Buddhism), the actually fact is that everyone already is like the Buddha, we're just not enlightened enough to notice.

That isn't what the story of Aṅgulimāla depicts. Even after he became a monk and reached enlightenment, he still had to suffer for all of his past sins. Also, the master of Hwansan's master even stated that the best time to reach enlightenment are when one is experiencing war and/or strife.
