You don't know anything about 3D printing Torpedo.
Metal 3D printers are very pricey and you can't just take any metal and slap it in, you need metal filament which isn't something you'd normally be in a position to make with your bare hands. So you have to by that shit ~100$ a pop which is more expensive then just trying to hunt down spare parts separately. From there the actual process of using this metal filament is trial and error because compared to the plastic filaments it's very finicky and if you're just starting out you'll be wasting a lot of it.
For plastic both the quality of the 3D printer and the type of filament you use is the difference between your part being broken apart from exceptionally weak structural integrity. Of course the good stuff, both printers and plastic filament, is expensive the filament especially is right up there in price with metal filaments.
For electronic parts it's still way too early to say 3D printing can replace the standard method of making them since you'd need both the skill and specialized 3D printers to make them.
