That's not the only cause, and you know it. Crowdfunding allows devs to promise the world and sucker a bunch of idiots with more money than reason to buy into it. Then they can "technically" fulfill their promises while essentially swindling their backers and running off with the cash. With crowdfunding, the only thing to keep the devs in line is an uncoordinated blob of people with little individual say, and probably mostly made of people too willing to give the benefit of the doubt. Mighty Number 9 was not at all made by inexperienced developers, yet looked how it turned out. Neither was Yooka-Laylee. Crowdfunding is a heavily flawed system that only works when the crowd isn't made of idiots, which isn't often.

I liked it a lot, but I played it before stardew instead of after. It misses some quality of life in opposite direction.
But it's the first game where I dissect bodies, sell and cook and eat the flesh. I quite enjoyed the cooking compared to stardew. Some of the game choices like adding fishing, beekeeping and farming seemed odd to me, until I realized there must be a game it was inspired by.
I quite enjoyed the game, hope it will develop well, but I have a sense that it will be abandoned prematurely, not sure why.
