Yeah, older tabletops had them as the standard. I think it was WoW that made the greenskins popular, though the original incarnation was sort of half pig, half wolf. Mostly because they usually had a snout more like a dog than a pig, even a big of a gorilla vibe since they had a hunched posture.
I think now they're starting to try and change their image away from the greenskin versions and give them more an ape look. But still thats the source of it for you and the closest thing to western pig orcs you'll get.

You're wrong, it was quite big in their beginning and peaked during the monster girl craze when MonMusu aired. I've seen other websites mentioned /monster/ in the past and some of their OC gets passed around outside of 8chan. Their board lost a lot of people and their influence has been dying.
