I think part of the issue is that lately, it's been games that still hold up pretty well getting the remake treatment, as opposed to ones with either potential to be good but weren't the first go around, or that were good but difficult to go back to. The PS1 Spyro games already have a bit of a high bar, so not only does a remake feel unnecessary, but was already likely to be worse, especially without the original team having worked on it. Personally, the whole thing feels kind of pointless to me, aside from the fact that the PS4 stupidly has no physical backwards compatibility and no PS1 Classic Store, finally making the originals unable to be (officially) played on modern consoles. And of course the people behind the remakes have the advantage of the originals not being included on the PS1 classic emubox to have to compete against with their "full games not included on disc" compilation remake.

At the very least, it's not like Spyro 2's expensive to replace these days if you so wanted to, and at least where I live, has seen an increase in availability from previous owners "trading up" to the remake. Just saying there's far worse possible cases of "where the fuck did it go?"
