right now cash shop is for optional upgrades / some shitty cosmetic dyes / emotes as far as i've seen, doesn't effect the grind in dauntless but its still pretty grindy because you need like 17 hides for upgrading weapons to be slightly useful and if you fuck up one roll you get slapped to shit and die

also the world is pretty barren player wise so you never get full parties, never played the PC monster hunter port so i'm unsure if i should just switch to that or give up on finding a 'good' pc behemoth killing game

World is absolute dogshit too. It has Denuvo (and a version that requires modern CPUs too, because it requires a new instruction set) and the netcode is trash. If you were any good at any MH game before, you'll be able to steamroll through World extremely easily.

Just emulate the previous games.

I played a some time ago so it might not be accurate to the current version. It's actually pretty okay. The weapons are fun to use, especially the hammer.

Looks like shit anyways, and it is a f2p gook grindfest. Why should I care about this?

It nailed the combat but the gathering was barebones as fuck and left me unfulfilled in wanting a monster hunter experience. Gathering the materials to make your potions, bombs, traps, ammo etc is a big part of a monster hunter game and all that shit was left out in favor of just making some buffs you'll never use instead.

It helped tide me over until the PC release of monster hunter world but after that I never picked it up again.

I played it a month ago. I was disconnected from the server during the last scene of the tutorial, which forced me to restart the tutorial. I then crashed during the middle of the tutorial. The next time, I crashed at the end of the tutorial. My friend insisted that I try again because he really wanted to play it. I finally beat the tutorial, arrived to town, and then crashed. When I loaded the game up and joined a game, it immediately crashed during the loading screen. I then uninstalled the game.

The game itself didn't even feel like it was worth the trouble. I only tried to play it because a friend wanted to play it with me.

I have 360 or so resistance and am fighting Maelstrom mosnters, you can get slapped down by a angry gnashers tail and then take damage repeatedly, while everyones running revolvers and not putting out enough break / dps damage

Riftstalker is bullshit too, it's got some super fast moves that will slap you if you aren't able to time correctly, which is hard to time your dodges correctly because even if you're mashing dodge, it puts your sword inputs as higher priority, delaying dodging by a second or so and basically fucking you over.

I feel like Gnasher's hitbox right now in maelstrom is way too big. also it's still not optimized well so you will get fps drops and lag, it's better than before but still not great

Wouldn't be as bad on PS4 if multiplayer wasn't charged. It's just more fun to play with other people and I wanna be able to enjoy that without an extra fee. Doesn't mean I'll play the PC version since it has the issues you mentioned.

as a matter of fact, i have. i had atrocious ping issues that caused rubberbanding all over the place and getting sucked back into the areas of effect of enemy attacks after dodges.

none of the armor sets or weapons looked cool or interesting, they all looked like generic fantasy "strap shit on this piece of leather cloth". that said, i think my favorite was the dual scythe thingy, simply because it allowed you to dash instead of dodge.

its like poorman's REALLY poor mon hun. its the equivalent of playing Tibia and Mu Online private servers when Final Fantasy XI, WoW, and Lineage 2 existed back during their primes but you're too poor to afford a sub.

probably 4U, it has a good balance of modern convenience, content, still a strong player base. It's not objectively the most challenging game in the franchise but some of the most challenging ones boil down to bullshit anyway. Double cross is the most popular one that isn't World but has a ton of super anime moves and shit added to it. Still more similar to 4U than World though and still has really comfy music.
