Alright /v/ let's conceptualize an AlienS video game piece by piece.

>You first fag.

All I have is a linear gimmick-ridden game with each gimmick separated and pretending to be a new skirmish campaign, when it's just the same missions replayed and arranged by category.

You come to a stop at a giant metal door. You go inside the generator room and pull the lever to activate them. Everything lights nicely, but you see the door you came through closed by an alien and the control panel destroyed. Another alien slaps your shit, pulls the lever and acid burns it.

This is an assassin alien section where you shoot in the dark and it gets progressively more interesting as the game advances.

A)

Everything is dark except for some pre-placed flares and your own short-ranged light to know if there's a wall in front of you.

The aliens are very lenient this round, giving you plenty of time to run up to the lights and shoot from there. You have the funny surprise of the alien breaking the light or throwing the flare somewhere else as you approach.

2) The room is lit but the aliens developed perfect invisibility(luckily they're slow in this phase) You have to damage them enough to make them bleed. 2.5) Careful not to damage the gas pipes and generators.

3) All the lights are on, but the aliens can cause temporary blindness to you and you have to fight like this.

4) Any source of light is often a trap to a pit fall. The aliens at very slow but very big. Tails become a problem if you don't shoot them in time.

5) You have to use the environment and ride moving crates on ceiling rails. All while the small aliens try to make you fall in the darkness full of blind zombie aliens which attack via acid.

6) You have to use the environment and lure them at X Y Z coordinates and kill them on that exact spot or else you're stuck in the room.

B) Advancing doom wall.

There's a slow moving doom wall made out of aliens. Doors can hold them. Ocasionally a few real aliens pop out of them to fight you. Some doom walls have health and can be killed by flamethrowers and rocket launchers alone, some are too gargantuan in size to ever be stopped.

The first few battles you face is against a doom wall which moves away from you.

With the second batch of doom wall you start a tug o war ala Karateka where you fight for territory.

The third batch of doom walls always put you in a corner, but you always escape or the wall always stops and waits for you to finish it off.

The fourth batch puts you in a corner and you die if you didn't deal enough damage since the beginning.

The fifth batch Doom Wall A) - smaller multiple doom walls chase you around the map and you have to push against the little ones to escape the big ones. Starts off easy to train you, then gets a hell lot harder.

Sixth batch - Doom Wall B) A non-advancing doom wall because it is present in all the walls of the whole level. This doom wall can grab you and kill you. The distance between you and it varies from inactive to 1-10 feet.

5) You fight a vertical doom wall from an elevator you control.

18) Doom Wall B)

19) Doom Wall A)

20) You fight a gargantuan vertical doom wall inside a large pit from a bunch of ladders, walls you climb.

21) Fight a gargantuan Doom Wall type A in your APC in a large crater.

Assassins/dark sections (x)

Doom Walls (x)

APC chase sequences

Pre-plan alien hive raids

Pre-plan base defense and evac plans

Smaller ideas:

Elevator sections/safe areas which aren't safe.

Alien kidnaps you, facehugs you in hive, got to remove chestburster in time - missions.

More small ideas:

Alien suit missions

Exo suit missions

Detective/The Thing missions

Ammo preserving missions

Boss missions.

Stealth chase sequence missions

Aliens come in all shapes and sizes, but their abilities differ greatly and feel otherwordly. Aliens can be immune to most bullets or non-bullets. Aliens can slowly go through walls. Aliens can morph and transform between each other. Aliens can become queens. Aliens can revive. Aliens breathe fire and various gases. Aliens can place bombs and viruses. Aliens can posses you. Aliens can swing on webs. Aliens can build walls at doors to block you. Aliens can go through you to kill you. Aliens can blind you, burn you, electrocute you, scare you, rape you, make you sick, mess with your mind, disguise as humans.

But anon the textures and lightning are infinitely worse than AvP1 redux mode. And it's a hell lot less scarier too. The trees don't even have leaves on them! You can't even drive vehicles! The level design is SUPER linear. You don't even have bonus/secondary objectives. The hacking device is a redundant gimmick.

The weapons are boring or come too late in the game.

The boss fights are pitiful.

There are only 4 types of aliens to fight against throughout the entire campaign. As the alien you only play as the most boring type in the entire campaign.

The exo suit lasts a total of 5 minutes. Your virgin marine dies from a 10 foot fall.

The flamethrower is useless.

Your virgin AvP2 Marine and Predator can't run like they shat their pants compared to the chad AvP1 rollerblade speed.

The aliens in AvP1 also know how to attack with a margin of error compared to the autistic AvP2 aliens who run straight up to you and every swipe lands, like metal attracted to a magnet.

Did I mention you can't drive/fly any vehicles? and your only love interest nukes herself up?

Game 1

LV-426 "Joy Ride" TAHR - Tank Assault Hive Raid

Single, Multi, Online game where you command a group of marines with 1 mother vehicle and multiple smaller vehicles. You go around from alien hive to alien hive to gather resources/points to upgrade your vehicles and your men's expertise in said vehicles. If your marines or vehicles die then they respawn during the game, that way you don't waste points and it's not game over if 1 special unit dies.

-Between 10 Hive bases for 1 marine player there's 1 human-controlled Hive player which acts as a rival boss you get to fight 4 times in your encounters and it's always tough.

-You get a special kind of biology-chemist specialist which is capable of putting aliens and entire hives to sleep to make your royal jelly and queen kidnappings a success.

Game 2

Construction of Hadley's Hope/Xenomorph Prime

Go around gathering resources, maintaining mining operations, earning money to build your base defenses and build your evac plan to prepare against upcoming raids from marines/aliens. Prepare panic rooms with food and oxygen tanks to save few marines or prepare helipad beacons/alien tunnelers to save a lot of marines/aliens but risking more. Has a skirmish mode. Has a sandbox mode. Now with infested spaceships expansion.

Game 3

First-person Zoo Tycoon/Stronghold with aliens. Capture and retain aliens in your super secret laboratory to earn money/build income and improve your defenses and route your evac plans. Try to maintain the secret so they don't shut off your operations. Do not blow up your base just because a few aliens escaped, instead seal off areas and slap a "contaminated area, stay away" on it. Do not kill the queen no matter what a bitch she is.

Game 4 -

A gameplay based on arcade shoot-em-all with infinite ammo with a highly dexterous character that can climb walls and ceilings even as a human. Think of Contra and Spiderman. Hardmode - you die in 1 hit, baby mode - you can take up to 100 hits and also have healing abilities and invincibility abilities.

More gameplay practices:

1) Generic fast one hit you're dead shooter game 2) generic shooter RPG (I have higher stats, therefore I win gameplay), 3) retro shooter Unreal/Doom/Quake where the bullets are as big as your head and you shoot fireballs/plasma/yellow fire which has a medium speed or a slow speed, making it viable to dodge.

4) Alien where you're invisible, can phase through walls, can easily go undetected, can cripple your enemy, place bombs on your enemy, can lure, place bombs, smooth crawling, can shapeshift into a cat, viable ambushing skills, methods, tactics which any Aliens game failed at.

The tricky part which nobody knows is combining and fine-tuning all these gameplays into one to receive one viable, smooth, fun, satisfying cohesive gameplay. Good luck with that.

Combining ideas is just as hard if the game does not cater around that specific idea. I know plenty of games with tertiary ideas which never affected much of the game's overall feel and content beyond "It's there".

1 more thing I have to say: I laugh my ass off every time someone watches the Alien+s movies to get inspiration for making an Alien+s game.

You get infinitely more inspiration from horror games and zombie games and literally any other game/movie with survival onslaught and stealth themes rather than Giger's pathetic penis heads.

Evac was pretty fun but Surivor captured the feeling of Aliens better. Slowly being whittled down while the swarm just increased. It was great since people would normally end up backed into a corner just keeping the endless waves at bay, normally some pussies would have run off and hidden somewhere but once the entrenched survivors were dead it was hide and seek until they were found by some random alien and then everyone would jump them. That shit was great.

3-Way Species War with asymetric tactics.

Primary focus of the game is Skirmish\Multiplayer since you can easily make maps that re-use all the gameplay for a campaign that introduces all these elements gradually and culminates in interesting stories too.

Every map is a large sprawling area with several important locations in them. Some are temples from the Predators, some are resource-rich areas.

The maps are open to the sky, enabling anything from coming from space, but they also feature long underground tunnels.

>Marines

They start with a military base somewhere in the map, populated with a few NPC guards, scientists and engineers. Guards defend against threats while scientists and engineers operate the buildings in that base, researching the upgrades you'll use and making weapons\items for the players.

The players themselves are commanders that can draft up to 5 NPC guards per player and go around the world to complete orders given to them by the Military.

These include liberating areas for a droppod to build a new base, exploring ruins\temples and attacking hives.

Research gets a huge bump with relics taken from Predator temples\ruins, resouces get a huge bump when destroying a Hive.

Everytime a player dies, he will respawn in a base.

Bases have supply lines between them with trucks and have to be defended from alien\predator incursions. As they accumulate resources and research, Marines get better weapons and gear until they finnaly get a Planetary Radar that can detect every Hive and Predator Ship in orbit. When that happens, they are tasked with clearing every Hive on the planet and every Predator Ship is downed, forcing the Predators to fight for survival until a rescue ship arrives.

>Aliens

Aliens start with an Hive underground, where a Queen keeps making eggs. They are tasked with capturing and dragging animals at first and later humans to create more aliens.

They can also expand their Hive around the tunnels and setup new ones, with a newer Queen also producing Eggs. Hives can also be set in Marine Bases if they are cleared of military personnel first.

The Egg production is slow, so Aliens are encouraged to get the stronger possible target since it breeds stronger aliens too. They are highly agressive and are encouraged to keep attacking and infiltrating human bases.

Aliens win by eliminating every human and creating a large amount of hives, forcing the Predators to land and take care of them, and murdering them.

>Predators

Their spaceships act as individual bases for each one of them and stay in orbit for most of the game. They drop down anywhere in the map they choose and can't go back in until they die, respawning in their base. Their economy relies around hunting and collecting trophies, unlocking better equipment for their next hunt based on their current one.

Predator ruins are guarded by automated defenses that they can't beat at the start of the game, but later on they can go inside, recover a relic and activate the temple\ruin. If the Marines took that relic, they have to recover it and install it in the ruins again.

Activating a temple restarts the defenses but they are now friendly to Predators. Activating enough temples shuts down all electronic components from Marines and overcharges the weapons of every Predator on the planet, making them fearsome killing machines.

Something like Aliens: Infestation but with a number of Colonial Marines for "lives" that can be swapped out at any time and not just access to 4 at one time and random generated alien nest that has to be found on whatever planet base/spaceship the game is set in.

The nest grows in real time producing bigger and stronger aliens, while possibly limiting the marines ability to scavenge up weapons/explosives to fight the aliens as it grows over the human engineered structures.
