How about a general that's only focused on retro PC games?

What's your favourite virtual machine to use to run these games on modern hardware?

What's the worst game you've ever gone back to remembering it as being good?

Blood 2 looked better than Blood to me. Blood tried too hard to be difficult and forgot to give you weapons early on. Ended up with shotgun assholes while you had almost nothing to deal with them. I got maybe 4 levels in and quit, it just wasn't fun. Blood 2 looked to have chilled out a bit.

DOS changes by era. An early machine isn't powerful enough and a late machine is too powerful.

So I should really be more looking at the specific games I want to play and aim for hardware from that time? Good to know and a good enough place to start.

LGR has a video on building a DOS machine you might want to check out. Just beware he's one of the biggest channels on DOS gaming and anything he recommends will have an E celeb tax on it. You can find equal equipment cheap enough though.

A common recommendation is a laptop just ahead of what you want. If you get a good screen it saves a lot of trouble.

Your soy-filled brain probably couldn't comprehend his statement but he's saying that every game from that era is a masterpiece, which is true. A lot of amazing games from that era will never be touched by the NPCs that run GoG or the cucks that make source ports.

Depends what you care for. I'm mostly into it for win9x/late dos games so I run an IBM Thinkpad T42 with Win98 UBCD. It's a really high end machine for the system and it runs everything I'm interested in. Phil's Computer Lab put out a video on a broad stroke DOS machine if you're into building your own.
