I hear a lot of people shills? say that the original dragon models were all too samey because of PS1 limitations (only 8 models with 20 recolored variants IIRC) and that the new models are better because of how varied they are.
My problem with these redesigns is that, just like the other redesigns in the game, they either aren't faithful to the originals or are too inconsistent with the rest of the game's styles. The originals were meant to, appareance-wise, evoke the feeling of buff, adult, powerful dragons to contrast how much of a puny little cunt Spyro is in comparison. However the new ones go from too cartoony and/or silly to literal barafag fuel designed by literal furfags.
Also, only the first game was more or less finished, 2 and 3 got rushed.

I wonder if there is a faction of scaleys that do battle with furries because people call them furries. They're essentially the same thing. They only a different attraction to species type and their naming fits better with one group. It's like those who call a wyvern a dragon. The first bit in the re-master video is fortnite shit. Where he's swinging his arms, he alternates in front and behind him and keeps them limp where as in the original he's keeping his arms bent and only swinging in front of his body.
The rest of the dance is the same and that's the only change outside of making the skeleton move in a circle while he's doing backflips. Pretty easy to see differences.

I just didn't think it would be this bad. Why is it so difficult for AAA companies to do anything right? Who are they appealing to? The zeds don't give a shit, they're too busy playing Fortnite.

Part of the problem is the combination of realistic (meaning high poly count and complex lighting/shading effects) graphics and excessively cartoonish Pixar-style models and animations. They even made the skeleton's face stretch and squish as if it's soft tissue. It's a fucking skeleton! The original game looks downright subdued by comparison.
The original developers made the artistic choices they did because of hardware limitations. I'm actually not sure if it's possible to update it without it looking gay as hell, though the bara dragon re-designs definitely could've been avoided.
