I want a thread discussing the applicability of game streaming in the future.
>But there's already a thread on this
No there isn't faggot, that's talking about some news on it, this is a thread talking about implementation and how shit it could possibly be.
So I keep hearing about this along with news of "this will end piracy" or other shit and the like but when ever I hear about shit like this there's so many negative factors that streaming a game as a standard would bring about.
I want to hear everyone else thoughts on this because from what I've looked up, tested and found, this could only spiral into a negative.
>Latency
So here I want to start with the elephant in the room, your average joe isn't using Ethernet, they're simply too retarded to be able to work a wire around their house no matter how simple you explain the process to them or how much you tell them they don't have to drill their fucking walls.
Nvidia has a streaming function thing which I tried on a tablet and Vita both being wired to PC giving the absolute best connection possible ignoring any sort of internet interference, the delay on it is fucking garbage still.
And from research there's literally no good streaming service for a low delay experience even the ones who have good reviews and shit, a quick search on the quality and it's so damn awful, now imagine in a non sterile situation (all of these tests have only the user using the internet), the user is on wifi, there's other people in the house on wifi all doing their things adding more interference, maybe it's peak hours which adds yet more interference, maybe you just live in a cucked area where internet will never be good.
Suddenly your game's resolution is fluctuating all over the place, keeps freezing and the delay is fucking atrocious.
>Resolution
Now even movie streaming sites are guilty of this, where they either A. don't support above 1080p or B. charge extra for it.
Even then you have streaming sites like Netflix where once the resolution bumps it never even makes an attempt to readjust so the image is fucking blurry as shit until you close and reopen.
So if you paid for a machine and monitor that can run software in higher then 1080p resolutions, now you'd suddenly need to invest in a much higher internet to be able to support a constant stream for the game and B invest the in the service more to even have that resolution even more.
This all seems like a way that every fucking business can dime and nickle you even more.
>Availability
Their servers need maintenance, go down from being over used, a bad peak time, too many other people using your net to use the games or your service is out for a bit.
Boom, your entire game streaming library is gone entirely, imagine paying for a service to pay for games when even the simplest little thing can completely invalidate all of your investments even suddenly when you're in the middle of it.
Usually when my net goes out this is when I opt to play some games because outside of that my PC is only good for home working but this is personal time not on the clock time, but even then who's to say this streaming shit wouldn't move on to streaming services.
There's other additional things to add to this like what if 2 people in a house want to play vidya now, is one just cucked out of the service since the strain would be too fucking awful?
