Was anyone else disappointed with how few ACT options the enemies had? The combat is objectively better and less repetitive, but one of the most fun things for me about Undertale was how the pacifist route was basically a puzzle. How can you convince this enemy to be friendly? What others ways have you, and what's the best one? What funny easter eggs has he hidden in there?
In the ruins alone, we had versatile options. The Delta Rune demo is much bigger, almost half as long as the original's neutral route, but a lot of the enemies were pacified rather simply. The only one I had fun pacifying was the bloxer dude. Everyone else, like Rudinn and Hathy, just took the one act option; about as straightforward as fighting them.

Everyone else was also used as character development stepping stones, or talk points. After Susie becomes controllable a bunch of enemies have Susie options and the whole bit is the multiple reactions you get out of it if you persist, a few times afterwards you just get an easy action for free. It's likely that as the first chapter that's just how the first part of the game starts.

There's this glitch where if you run the game in fullscreen or something, the game play twice as fast as it should. Some absolute fucking madlad actually beat Jevil under these conditions and he didn't even know it was going too fast the entire time right up until the very final attack where the final devilsknife got too close to make sense.

The joke of "you barely look at the enemy and they're already your friend" is fine once. It gets old fast when that's how it works for half the enemies in the game.
Although Toby did say the ACT and pacifist system is mostly vestigial at this point anyway, so I wouldn't get your hopes up for anything more complex than what we already saw.

I also know this is the first chapter and things are naturally going to evolve from there; Jevil is proof that Toby's not afraid to still kick us in the balls
I also know Toby was busy working on literally every other new combat feature in the demo, as well as more enemies than the Undertale demo had.
But yet, I still gotta see it myself, and the bulk of ACT encounters were as repetitive as fighting if not moreso. If I've any fear for the full game, it's that it could forget this. I'm just so fucking used to sequels forgetting this one big thing that their original does just right.

We are told in Undertale that monsters' bodies are made of mostly magic and turn into dust when they die.
A static NPC monster in Deltarune asks Kris "what's it like being made of blood?", implying monsters don't have blood, at least for monster species found in both games.
But Lancer talks about blood several times, like it's a common thing in the dark world.
Maybe Darkners turn into blood when they die, and only Lightners turn into dust.

The undyne fight actually looked pretty cool. After that, you basically felate yourself until the San's fight and do your best edgelord impression along the way. Mechanically it actually works if you don't know what's coming because you get the impression you're unstoppable all the way up to the San's fight. Then you get your shit kicked in properly and the whole undying undyne fight feels like nothing by comparison.
That's the thing though, 99% of the people who fought Sans probably knew what was coming ahead of time. The twist isn't a fucking twist if you know it's coming.

Despite it all, I don't let it get me down. I put on a smile and enjoy what little bit of life I can. If you don't believe in an afterlife the only logical conclusion would be to enjoy as much of your time on this planet as you can before you expire. I've already lost my virginity as well as my innocence so I can't become a wizard anymore and I'm too far gone to be a n0rmie in my current state. King of Spades is definitely meant to be Asgore, since his character is reversed. People thought of Asgore as a benevolent ruler, who regretfully did awful things, while the King of Spades is a straight up tyrant. No idea where Lancer and Kaard fit into this, though.
The skeletons are most likely out of context and tie into the whole Gaster subplot at some point. Deltarune (and Undertale retroactively) has a lot of subtle hints regarding that.

Yeah, I'm actually bad unless Wine has the same framerate issue in windowed mode, but I doubt that. I don't play any bullet hell games, and my reaction time is shit.
I manage to get in 2 or 3 hypnosis acts, but as soon as one party member dies (usually against something like the club rain or the circle spade attack that I can't dodge for shit), it's fucking doom for me, because I can't revive them fast enough to get another hypnosis in before another dies.
I've got an inventory full of burgers, and I have only actually been able to run out once. I'm dying faster than I can use the fucking things up.
I need to just memorize the patterns and git gud. I didn't have much trouble with Sans in Undertale, either, so I'm probably out of practice more than anything else, because I don't play any games that require fast reaction times anymore.

Yeah, that's about the speed I played it. Maybe a little slower because I was running on a 75Hz monitor. Pretty sure it was intended to run at half of that, or at 30FPS.
It actually seemed like a decent amount of challenge all around at that upped speed. Things like the heart bombs and carousel on Jewil took a few exposures to get a feel for, but beyond that, and especially for the rest of the game, it felt on point. You know, like a gameplay element and not a shoehorned "can't have an RPG without fighting busywork" mechanic.

Probably just shitty coding. "Don't be framerate-dependent" is one of the most important rules to game programming for the past 20 years. My guess is that he was using some dumb hack to force the framerate into 30hz for the game window, but it doesn't work in fullscreen mode in Windows because fullscreen programs don't have a window in a literal sense on Windows, and will not allow you to use standard window-manipulation functions on them, or in Wine, because Wine doesn't have a lot of those window-manipulation functions implemented because nobody uses most of them.
I haven't had any trouble in the game until this part. Jevil's shit is just too fast for me at 60hz. Looking at the later phases of his attacks in normal speed, I don't think there's any way I'd be able to cope at double speed.
Toby openly admits that he's a shit programmer. He should get somebody else to do the programming for him. These are the kind of brain-dead mistakes that comp-sci freshmen make. The obvious right way is make these kinds of movements based on real-world time and calculate movement by delta time rather than assumed framerate.

I beat it. It's odd how easy it gets after he uses his final chaos. Once you get the rhythms down, the only hard phases are the carousel (which I still couldn't get the hang of) and the devilsknife with the red knives, because I couldn't get the timing down to move through the middle without getting hit. After the final chaos, it seems like he sticks to the easily-dodged shooting rounds and the diamonds that can be dodged just by watching the bottom of the screen and sticking to where they aren't spawning.
I might give it a shot at 60hz after I beat the game.

Someone had proposed the possibility that the soul we play as in Deltarune is the same one from Undertale. I think this is possible, and I have an idea on how it might work.
Gaster appears to be talking to us in Deltarune. His notes on an experiment in Undertale mentioned the darkness.
Deltarune might be a pocket-universe of sorts Gaster created for the purpose of honing the perfect human soul to bring into his own world. A soul that, when given a vessel in Undertale, would be strong enough to free the monsters from the underground, for better or worse. A soul that wouldn't fall to Asgore, that could face constant danger, and might yet have the compassion to help the monsters. Maybe Frisk didn't climb that mountain. Maybe they were put there.
Although, this might mean that Susie, Noelle, and the rest will cease to exist at the end of Deltarune. A bunch of constructs in a temporary universe, their purpose served.

Used to be interested in Undertale before the final game seemingly turned into a mess, back when Toriel didn't have a name yet and was only called "Goat Mom." I was ironically a fan of his Earthbound Halloween Hack so I was interested in what an original game of his could be like. Undertale's first demo wasn't disappointing, it was pretty good too if I had to be honest. But that being said, I stopped being a fan when Undertale fully came out and saw how much "meme" humor was in the game as well as other retarded design decisions. I liked the idea that you didn't have you kill the monsters in order to progress, but I ultimately hated some of the forced personalities and stupid tropes behind them. That and I didn't like how killing a few monsters was actively discouraged despite them being the ones attacking you.
To this day, I have never touched Undertale and I can't say I have the desire to. But I have to say, Deltarune looks to be more of what I was expecting. But it is worrisome seeing as how Undertale's first demo and final game ended up being. It makes me think that if this does become a final game, it'll be as unaware and "lol so randumb" as Undertale did. To me, he's heading in the right direction, but he needs more creative restraint and know what sorts of ideas enhance the game and which ones need to be cut. Call me once his stories and characters stop being on the same level as an edgy Middle Schooler's writing journal.

I think you should probably play undertale before you pass judgement; the game takes maybe a day to run through, even doing all the side content, which there isn't much of. It's really not as lolrandumb as it seems on the outside, there are just a couple of jokes that do feel a bit weird, and a lot of bait-and-switch wordplay. The fact that papyrus is a spaghetti-mancer isn't some random thing, it's because it's established that he is learning how to cook, and the only thing he knows barely is spaghet, because undyne is teaching him, because she doesn't want him to be in the royal guard out of fear for a friend.

Again, I know nothing of the game apart from the demo and what the fans don't constantly shove into my face at every opportunity they find. I came into this thread because I was interested in Deltarune and possibly getting around to Undertale to "develop a full opinion for myself" because apparently base reactions and opinions don't count worth shit because "they don't really know." If anything I've left again with no interest for Undertale. That may change, but for now, it's not my thing. And if someone wanted an opinion or was interested in playing it themselves, I can only tell them my base reactions with the game and why I think they could invest time elsewhere. In the same way you can recommend someone a game being halfway through or having finished it, you should be able to voice your distaste or gripes with a game having played none or very little based on your initial reactions. And again, those opinions only have as much merit as an initial reaction, I'm not touting it as be all end all.

The biggest piece of evidence is probably just working through the logic behind the well-used cage with the wagon. Actually I just got around to talking to Seam about Jevil. Before I'd just beaten the jester, saved, and quit. Since he's the court magician I think it's more likely he's the second Joker and there'll probably be a secret fight against him at some point. Afterall, he could keep up with Jevil's "games."
That said, admittedly this is also a pretty GAY theory, but piggybacking off your theory that Kris, sans SOUL, goes into the Dark World everynight as the Knight it could be that the person Jevil and Seam met that changed Jevil forever was Kris. It could even be possible that he didn't transform when entering as the SOUL is what makes him a hero. Given this impression it's possible that's the reason Jevil wears the same colors as Kris' shirt.
Though I also must admit it's much more likely that Toby just picked those colors since they work with Jevil's palette well and the person who changed him would be more likely to be Gaster.

Something to consider though is whether offscreen Kris and offscreen Soulless Kris are distinct from each other, i.e. if the personality snippets you hear about belong to Souled Kris or Souless Kris. The odd thing about this is what the nurse suggests, which presents a contradiction. If Souled Kris is the one playing music, then the question is why you can't play well at all during the epilogue, but if it's Soulless Kris playing then that suggests that the personality being established is actually his instead.

I interpreted this as the dragon is wearing torn-up jeans, a white shirt, and a dark coat. I figured Berdly was picking on you and implying you have a crush on Susie, since you two bailed on class for a day and Kris came out unscathed and abnormally sociable.

Spade King is also a classical reverse Emperor, Lancer starts out a Fool and turns into a reverse Hierophant, Susie starts out as a reverse Chariot and ends up being an upright Chariot, but Ralsei is the only one outside of Spade king who doesn't change, Ralsei is a reverse Hanged Man.
The reverse cards represent excesses and bad qualities, Lancer being a rebeller who revolts against his father being one only by old values, though he has clearly not thought through how he's going to rule. Ralsei stays a Reverse Hanged Man the entire story, not every wanting to sacrifice for his goals and even getting the party into trouble because of it by healing the king.
The Tarot is mostly used as a motif for telling stories, for different types of characters. Ralsei having a reverse card and not changing means he'll either stay that way and become an enemy, or change and mature. The game's first act being centered around a bunch of card characters really ties into it.

Part of me wonders if Ralsei is going to be a twist villain. If Toby really wants to deconstruct Undertale then a pro-pacifism villain would definitely be a way of doing it. Hell his pacify spell is technically the first time we've gotten a means of sparing foes against their will. You could have a boss fight where he tries to use it on us, with tiredness becoming your new HP bar.
Another thing to consider, the prophecy speaks of the third member of the trio being a prince. If Lancer's father really is a king then Lancer, not Ralsei, could be the third member the prophecy speaks of.

Depends where you are and what kind of tarot deck you have. In many places, tarot cards are just playing cards used to play certain card games. Is Deltarune specifically stated to allude to tarot cards? It uses French playing card suits. If it had anything to do with Tarot, I'd think it would use tarot suits.
I think, barring any actual evidence, I'd discount any claims that the game has anything to do with tarot. Tarot has 22 different concepts in the trumps, 44 if you count the reversed as being distinct, and many of the concepts are very loose or interpreted in multiple ways. You could use the tarot as a framework for any existing story and have it roughly fit.
I actually haven't seen tarot used for anything except divination and games, though. Is the use of tarot divination concepts as a framework for fiction common?

see above. I'm extrapolating a lot here, and it's definitely a worst-case scenario, but I can easily see things getting out of hand. I still think the best option is to move these threads to another board, but as long as people keep the shitposting to a minimum we should be fine. This is a good piece of advice, and I have contributed a bit of OC here and there. However, my worry is that once the OC dries up and people run out of things to discuss, instead of letting the thread die they'll just keep going deeper and deeper into faggotry. Maybe I'm being to much of a worrywart though.

I don't think you're wrong, and I'd agree with moving the discussion to /vg/ if we remained totally static as a group. However the crux of my reasoning is that even if we migrated there would still be newfriends making Deltarune threads looking for discussion here. I don't know how long that will persist for, we aren't exactly high traffic, but I still think it might be a bit early.
If anything the best thing we could do would be to agree to your terms, but not migrate, knowing that another thread is inevitable.

They're well-intentioned, but a bit misguided. These anons legitimately love the game and don't want to see it get dragged through the mud like Undertale since those threads allegedly sunk into degeneracy and bringing it up at all in other threads gets you flak.
However since the well is already poisoned I don't think other /v/irgins would care to make a distinction between the games to begin with. I do not think there was ever a chance for the distinction that "Undertalefags are cancer, but those Deltarune anons are alright." This isn't an opinion I've voice before since I think it's rather defeatist and seems like an endorsement of bad behavior.
We're ultimately here to talk to each other about video games and not being able to talk about these games, not because they are objectively shit (even if some parts of them are), but because of their reputation due to a few bad apples is really shitty.
In spite of that, even if they're right and these threads do go to shit, I do not think they should be stopped on account of other anons' unfounded opinions.
