This is no standard to make judgments. When I see nu-Blizzard take a game already finished and sold, remake it and shove it into our faces, I am rather livid about it. People need to understand two things: #1. It isn't like it's the same people who made WC3 are involved here. #2. Taking and remaking a game already finished long ago, an original game that is older and sometimes works with older gaming elements – doesn't need a contemporary reworking. The best they could do is fix what's broken in the system. To take a finished game and dismantle the OC for a 'new' content is disgusting. This is a disgusting practice even in MMOs where it is expected. Vanilla WoW by far exceeds most expansions simply because the game feels and plays like it aligns with the OC world. For example, prices and everything actually factors into gameplay. Merchants sold things for silver and that was a heck of a cost and professions were actually useful in certain instances back then. Everyone matched with the original design and intention – until it updated and people moved on and new people were introduced with new intentions outside the original design and things didn't align. That is what we find plaguing the current MMO most of all.
>TL;DR
Do not remake a finished game. Make a new game. If it is a continuation of that franchise, reproduce the best qualities of it and continue what works. This is why TES is so successful. It doesn't half the community. It continues with its series without deviating from what people expect. It innovates and adds meat to proper bones. It simply works. I have to admit, TES games are getting a bit outdated. They still have a special place in my heart.

Besides, there's really not much room for change aside from minor details, like increasing a unit's damage.

The units are so difficult to see because Blizzard changed the lighting, so details that stood out before and now covered in shadow. They changed the details on the models, so it's hard to pick out because they have a poor silhouette and their body shape is a mess. They changed the colors of the textures. Everything is more desaturated. In the original game everything is vivid and clean.

For me the worst part is the lighting. Notice when you see the human's face he's covered in shadow during the original, hiding the lack of detail and adding a mysterious tone. Also, in the remake the meteors give off way too much green light because subtlety is dead.
