You know, I don't mind the plant being a character. It's not like introducing weird characters with no star power at all is new to Smash. But I hate how they just lazily reused the Brawl Petey Piranha boss for its final smash.

Just talking for myself, but I'm still gonna buy the game, K.Rool, Simon Belmont, plus all the others is worth it I believe, Thing with trophies is they are nice to have, but you end up watching them for what? two minutes top after you read the description? at least in Smash for Wii U there were those vitrines as incentive for having a full set, and I'm not saying it's ok that they were removed but speaking on experience the only thing they were truly good for was for watching the modeled underpants of girl characters using skirts, I zoomed in on the trophy for the super scope yesterday and the letters on the super scope label were blurry, like what the fuck?.

I'm slowly starting to think and appreciate the fan service included on spirit matches, I hope there's a lot of times one can play against character possessed by spirits and say, aha , just like in it's spirit game… It's a long-shot, with the limited resources they manage, being the effects of items and stuff, but incorporating the assist trophies makes me hopeful, and there's gonna be salt regardless.

I'll hold out on the fighter's pass though, since I don't play this party game competitively I'll only pay for the characters I like or think will be fun to play as, Like the motherfucking plant, which luckily I only had to pay for with the early buy and dilution of standards in what it means to be a smash bros character, maybe it is a warning from sakurai, implying Nintendo isn't gonna be after third parties as hard as before after this game and this is the future they choose rely on the core franchises and it's characters as irrelevant as they may be, Sakurai said ultimate is a one in a lifetime occasion to bring everyone back after all.

The core mechanics of Spirits (primary spirits with 'styles' that retool your character's stats and secondary spirits that amp you up or provide an item) are fantastic. Every single person who has argued that Ultimate still isn't as punchy as Melee should be in full support since Spirits almost unilaterally bias the game towards a more offensive style of play and add new kill options to characters who have been on the cusp of being lethal- give Fox the kick-amplifying secondary spirit and he goes back to killing at 75 off top, that sort of thing. It's also a good way for items to be usable without being random. In a fair world, the mode would have an online feature.It probably won't, but couch play could be fun.

Giving event mode an extra purpose and designing hundreds of event mode matches to rotate through? Also neat. I don't know why people are asking for a tiny and generally inferior standard event mode that wouldn't have nearly as much character or care put into it.

World of Light is fantastic, I hope it has more cinematics and they're just being huge babies about it since everyone loved subspace emissary so much. The map layout looks fun as fuck to explore and has a good amount of character for the pure scale of it.

I was going to main Simon for obvious reasons but now I'm almost certain I'll be playing Piranha Plant (ideally with a tag like GENO), though I am worried about legality in tourneys since it's a timed exclusive. I think Piranha Plant will probably have a separate DLC option later down the line.

Trophies were fake and gay and I won't miss them.

I always wondered where Smash would go after Ultimate, since it seems to have almost every character people could ask for. But looking at how things are, it's clear the next Smash is going to have a smaller roster and it's going to bring back things that people want, that you can't do with a huge roster, like unique "break the targets for each character" type of things. Ultimate's huge roster is going to come at the expense of a lot of game play features that people usually like. We already see it with trophies being replaced. We'll see it with other things too.

A commendable effort, but I'm not really sure it's even theoretically possible. I think the closest you could get is "which character would cause the least possible amount of people to get mad?" Geno would probably be relatively safe in that regard. Reimu Hakurai is a bit riskier, but would be met with overwhelming approval.

Geno Whirl - Fires a disk of light. It does poor damage, unless you perfectly time a secondary input, at which point it hits the game's damage cap.
