Only "recent" CRPGs I've played are Underrail and Age of Decadence. Both are great games, though Underrail stuck with me the most because I like the setting, and the combat is the superior one out of the two. Also helps that they're not RTwP garbage like everything in the OP.

Sure, but I've already played them quite a bit. I'm talking deeper than the Witcher though but still an aRPG. More dialogue that means something, more choices and consequence, more character variety etc. More like an Elder Scrolls game but not buggy shit with bad combat and bad quests and writing.

>More like an Elder Scrolls game but not buggy shit with bad combat and bad quests and writing.
Those are kind of inherent to the design you're looking for. Morrowind and Daggerfall had decent writing, okay combat and pretty cool quests. But you're never going to get the quality of say Arcanum in an action oriented game. And you're certainly not going to get anything but surface level RPG mechanics in them either. Because action games are the antithesis of adopting RPG systems for video games.

I like AoD and it certainly is a CRPG, but I have a feeling it's a very atypical one where the game is more structured like a CYOA with hard skill checks and challenging fights here and there. There's basically zero time wasting in it whether it be pointless meandering, filler trash fights or whatever. Tight game built for replays.
▶ bbca62 (2) No.15678378

Yeah, it's pretty reminiscent of CYOA games, I agree. Still there's hubs to explore and the hard skill checks mixed with a very branching story gets certain stat fags really hard.

It's not too hard, I've beaten it two times. It's just that it removes all gameplay besides dialogue and combat from the Fallout formula and that pretty much leaves you with a VN. But more importantly I don't think succeeding skillchecks in dialogue really is gameplay nor is it very interesting. See video related for a good talk on choice in games. In AoD you get teleported around to stat check dialogue with "I win buttons" and if you lose them get to fight enemies in a pretty shitty replica of Fallout's combat system.

I have similar feelings regarding Atom RPG. It basically is a Russian Fallout clone but set in Soviet wastes instead of the West Coast. Aside from much needed changes to combat and updated graphic the game is rather mediocre on its own; full of fetch quests and having to constantly deal with the same mutated ants, spiders and wasps. I guess for a first game from a small Russian studio it is a valiant effort but you realize how low-budget the game is pretty quick.

I barely played it but it seems really repetitive but enough to scratch the itch, just directionless roaming around, clearing randomized dungeons, leveling up your guys and collecting loot.
I'm aware of stuff like KotC and the Spiderweb games but I'm hesitant to try them for now. KotC only having 3 races and 3 classes is off-putting and I found Spiderweb's Escape from the Pit really fucking bland. It's just at lesser version of Planescape Torment with not even a tenth of direction that one had. Then again, their source materials are also drastically different and basing a tight narrative RPG on a roleplaying game where you have purposefully vacant lots left in the world so "GM can fill it with what he wants" seems like a bad. I also cannot shake this feeling you had your progressive types developing Numenera only for their boss to constantly hover behind them so they couldn't go full retard. As a result you have an incredibly disjointed world with good vignettes here and there, as well as GENUINELY plentiful and varied non-combat solutions to problems, but it all just meanders along and never clicks together like it should. Planescape Torment is a good league above Numenera and constant direct comparisons with spiritual successor talk did the latter no favors.

Action games are an antithesis to roleplaying as the other guy mentioned. As soon as you have full control of your character it's you playing, not the character. CRPGs are about building a story. Some of the story is about how a fight turned out interesting because of something you didn't expect. There is much less chance of that happening if it's a game like Dark Souls where you memorize the enemy attack patterns. It's a different appeal. Also, your request for a game to have super deep and interesting combat and dialogue is 1. extremely labor intensive and 2. might be seen as a schizophrenic game, for market appeal. The deep dialogue will turn off the players who appreciate the deep combat and vice versa. These aren't necessarily mutually exclusive appeals for everyone but the reality seems to be that they are more often than not (people who grew up playing P&P or CRPGs don't necessarily have honed reflexes).

It's going to be their own OGL thing, so basically 3.5 but with homebrew tweaks such as wizard and sorcerer being combined into one.

So me and some buddies are planning on playing NWN2 together. I'm passing around a GOG torrent, but while it downloads I wanted to ask if it has direct connect or if we'll have to use a LAN emulator.
Also, I was planning on starting with the original campaign as apparently it works with multiplayer, is better than the NWN1 campaign, and MOTB is made to be played with a continued character/party. I have no idea if any of these are true so if you could correct any misgivings that would be great.

Do each of you get to create a character? or just play with the companions?

I think everyone creates one. I haven't played NWN2 since like 2012 or some shit but I distinctly recall making an elf sorcerer and a buddy of mine making a half-orc fighter and him passing every persuade check and me failing every one.

But it must be awkard from a campaign perspective, Storm of Zehir is the one created with a full custom party in mind which makes playing solo feel rather lonely, i like the interactions and quests with the companions, now all characterization i have to do inside my head

When she was a baby sheboon, she niggered a paladin's helmet. He got his brains smashed out in a fight right after. She got real sad and became a paladin to try to attone for being a nigger.

The Diablo 2 paladin was black.

Honestly, the paladin iconic isn't even the offensive content. You throw a helmet on her and you'd never even know she was a nigger. I don't know why you would even post the paladin over the shaman who sold out its people in exchange for a hormone therapy lizard that made its penis suck into its body, or the empyreal lord of tranny/genderfluid/homosex orgies.

Well I torrented a gog version and it looks like you need CDKeys. I can't for the life of me remember anything about this, so maybe it isn't as easy as I thought.

For all the people bitching about Seelah being a nigger, she's from a nation that's actually based on Moorish Arabia (Katapesh). For being a proper nigger, she'd need to be from Mwangi

That just shows that Paizo are too retarded to even know the difference between Moors and Niggers.

They bought into the meme (pushed by their subverted churches) that Jesus was a pushover cuck, and that being so was the highest of virtues.
