There was a game for PS2 I believe, at least, it could have been PS1 because the graphics were so bad. The entire concept of the game is that there is a VR machine that people would actually connect their brains into; there were all these shitty prerendered cutscenes, when you got a game over, your brain would melt, and if you decided to save and quit, your brain went into deep freeze storage.
The game itself was also rather lacking. There were four levels that consisted of driving this weird vehicle thing around the game world, and all of the different objects added different things to the soundtrack, so you could be in the middle of nowhere and have this little minimalist beat, or the music would be this absolute clusterfuck of noise when you're around a ton of little things. The objective is to collect these ten things floating around, and you often had to do weird physics things to get them, such as launching yourself at a precise angle and the like. All the while, you had to avoid this slow-moving vehicle The Crusher, I think? Not 100% on that that would kill you on touch and rape your ears if it was even remotely close to you.
The game was just plain bad, but a friend of mine back in the military had it, so I wanted to see the undoubtedly shitty ending.
