>Wasn't casul enough to be a good kids game
Plenty of casual, if you had trouble with the game you need some medical help.
The Post Game stuff is literally just farming shit all around and even toddlers can figure that out.
>the attempt at showhorning a serious story in
>serious story
It's DARKNESS: THE STORY all the damn time, there's pretty much nothing serious about it. It's so incredibly basic I'd consider it a negative point if it wasn't exactly what the game needed anyway. Seriously, there's children cartoons with deeper and more complex stories.
>wasn't developed enough in the city building for their to be any intriugue
Why would you expect any "intrigue" in a casual city builder game? The entire point of that was strictly to give you good reasons to explore (find more residents) and farm (get materials for products) as well as provide quests that see you revisit previous areas too. It's entirely there to suplement the main story and reuse the overworld more than once with the main quest.
>your interactions with the citizens was limited to a single, mostly recycled, line of dialogue and a bunch of fetch quests.
You're exagerating but I see the problem here. You were expecting Rune Factory instead.
Your Oasis easily gets about 100 different citizens so obviously they would never have the same depth that RF or HM characters would have. Their dialogue lines are mostly to establish their trope and that's it. Those fetch quests were basic since their point is, again, to have you explore the world around you, reinforcing the central gameplay. But they do have some neat and short stories combining all quests for the same villager.

>I can't play this videogame because I don't feel represented in it
And then you fucks have the gall of posting that "anti-sjw" image. Videogames are an oportunity to play as anything whatsoever and you're supposed to relate to their way of thinking, their personality, their posture in life, not their fucking body.
Common trope is the noble knight in full armor withstanding blow after blow. If you think it needs a human body to pass on that image, think again fucko.
You could have the exact same "character" simply being a tall, strong tree. A oak tree with millenia of experience in the world, having seen much around it, staying it's ground against storms and fires, earning reverence from humans because of it's strength and even siring offspring of it's own that grow to be just as strong and tall.
You could have a fucking tree do the role of a knight and you'd have the exact same character because the physical body is just one way to relate to someone, not the only one.
