Pic related. It could have been the start of a nice new adventure series with a nice art style and likeable characters but they sent it out onto the dying 3ds market with no advertising push and so the mana team went back to making mobage.

>Mark's nudes spacing

There's also the fact that it fucking sucked and didn't do anything it was supposed to. Wasn't casul enough to be a good kids game with all the post game autism and the attempt at showhorning a serious story in, wasn't developed enough in the city building for their to be any intriugue in it and your interactions with the citizens was limited to a single, mostly recycled, line of dialogue and a bunch of fetch quests. About the only thing it did that was tolerable were some of the dungeons, which were at least phantom hourglass tier (not saying much but) and the combat, which wasn't good but at least wasn't physically painful. Even then it seems they couldn't decide whether to go full toddler-mode or max autism and ended up in this awful, muddy middle ground of blandness.

I want to fug the water sprite however

I loved that game, its like zelda but you get new companions instead of new items. if it wasn't so easy and had a little bit better combat it would have been 10/10.

>Wasn't casul enough to be a good kids game

Plenty of casual, if you had trouble with the game you need some medical help.

The Post Game stuff is literally just farming shit all around and even toddlers can figure that out.

>the attempt at showhorning a serious story in

>serious story

It's DARKNESS: THE STORY all the damn time, there's pretty much nothing serious about it. It's so incredibly basic I'd consider it a negative point if it wasn't exactly what the game needed anyway. Seriously, there's children cartoons with deeper and more complex stories.

>wasn't developed enough in the city building for their to be any intriugue

Why would you expect any "intrigue" in a casual city builder game? The entire point of that was strictly to give you good reasons to explore (find more residents) and farm (get materials for products) as well as provide quests that see you revisit previous areas too. It's entirely there to suplement the main story and reuse the overworld more than once with the main quest.

>your interactions with the citizens was limited to a single, mostly recycled, line of dialogue and a bunch of fetch quests.

You're exagerating but I see the problem here. You were expecting Rune Factory instead.

Your Oasis easily gets about 100 different citizens so obviously they would never have the same depth that RF or HM characters would have. Their dialogue lines are mostly to establish their trope and that's it. Those fetch quests were basic since their point is, again, to have you explore the world around you, reinforcing the central gameplay. But they do have some neat and short stories combining all quests for the same villager.

>>15652429

>I can't play this videogame because I don't feel represented in it

And then you fucks have the gall of posting that "anti-sjw" image. Videogames are an oportunity to play as anything whatsoever and you're supposed to relate to their way of thinking, their personality, their posture in life, not their fucking body.

Common trope is the noble knight in full armor withstanding blow after blow. If you think it needs a human body to pass on that image, think again fucko.

You could have the exact same "character" simply being a tall, strong tree. A oak tree with millenia of experience in the world, having seen much around it, staying it's ground against storms and fires, earning reverence from humans because of it's strength and even siring offspring of it's own that grow to be just as strong and tall.

You could have a fucking tree do the role of a knight and you'd have the exact same character because the physical body is just one way to relate to someone, not the only one.

Fantasy life was actually painful, the grind to get some shit to higher levels was fairly absurd with how often you need to repeat the exact same minigame for every crafting profession. and before you say "going to three stations each requiring slightly different A button timings is totally different between going to three stations requiring different timing of pressing A".

Aside from that the combat was shallow, and the multiplayer barring you from completing the rank up challenges was the worst shit.

Titanfall 2 was planned to release in a time of year inbetween Battlefield 1 and CoD WW2 just so it could siphon as many sales as possible off CoD towards EA. While the silver lining was that EA ultimately didn't care much about Titanfall 2 other than it's role as a meat shield on the market and thus didn't fuck it up with microtransactions, it did mean that Titanfall 2 was only almost a modest success, though it wasn't really enough to recoup development costs, allowing EA to move in on Respawn to buy them out of the impending bankruptcy and have them slave away on the next Star Wars property.

It's a shame, because the singleplayer campaign was genuinely good. The gimmicks at display were actually explored nicely before being thrown away again, the sense of flow for the Sonic the Hedgehog-levels where you're parkouring through a giant factory with multiple paths while platforming over giant machinery was fucking 10/10, and BT was a bro.

The multiplayer was also good, Titans weren't killstreak rewards because you could mess with them good if you were good and fast while on the ground, and the movement system is seriously fast in depth too. You could still get really far with projectile weapons even though hitscan tended to dominate more than it should have.

Shame it's kind of dead nowadays, though I haven't checked.

Ever Oasis was not great. It was very poorly designed. The probably biggest problem was that you can only have two NPCs with you, and there are tons of points where you need a specific weapon or ability to do something. That means that you end up teleporting back to town every two minutes to switch out an NPC. It gets incredibly tedious very fast. The city building aspect, if we can call it that, was just tedious as well. To keep the residents happy you needed to keep running chores for them, gathering stuff. Everything about the game is just tedious, and the gameplay isn't nearly good enough to make up for it. It's a shame because I did like the visuals.

As a special mention, the endgame is so absurdly tedious that it makes the most grindy MMO look fast in comparison. I'm not exaggerating. Last I heard, there still was no completed list of weapons because no one had fucking created them all.

>make a satisfying shootbang with pve multiplayer

I wonder why there aren't more games doing this.

NPC mobs that have low health and pose a threat only if they outnumber you for a satisfying quick combat with lots of things to kill.

But also high health pools for players so combat against them feels different and puts them on a different level than the regular mobs and takes substantially longer.

You'd get the satisfaction of low TTK combat from killing regular mobs and you'd get it in large doses if there are large numbers of them, but you'd also avoid the frustration of dying instantly to other players and thus have short unsatisfying combat against them.

>Shame 3 and its rumoured aliens and biotitans wont ever happen.

What are you talking about? Was 3 canceled? Or just those elements?

Japan likes their Tales on Sony systems; if they don't start out there, they (main series, anyhow) either get ported or remade for their preference. The PS1 ones had the same issue with requiring a multitap for the co-op if more than two player; not that that excuses Sony not learning from the N64 and Gamecube and building four ports in. And sadly for most fans, while I certainly love the co-op option, four player's probably not even a big factor for them, much less two, when they don't have anyone interested to play it with. At least the option's still there though.

Definitely a problem with the release frame though (and lack of marketing; Bamco didn't learn anything from NoA marketing Symphonia, nor handing Legendia in the between time), and Bamco certainly aren't the only ones whose JRPGs released a bit too close to Square's to do all that well here. Admittedly though I'm not sure if it's a case of said companies being retarded and not understanding how badly Square-Enix stands to fuck them, or if Square-Enix choose dates close to competition to quash possible competition. Would have to see announce dates, which aren't as easy to find as release ones.

Honestly surprised it got ported to the 3DS of all things as opposed to the Vita, which already had two Tales remakes on it in Japan, and being sent to a portable means no co-op (where the FoF system shines). Though, perhaps they wanted to try to hit a separate audience with it in sending it to a Nintendo system. At least they saw fit to reprint the PS2 original at some point.

>washed out

I honestly have to wonder if maybe that was an intentional choice. Once you look past the surface, Auldrant's kind of a shithole world, and the dulled greens, blues, and reds, and prevalence of browns kind of reflect that. Would certainly like to see the actual graphical quality improved though. Symphonia before it had it's own visual charm (if lacking proper 1:1 character height), while Vesperia after it had nice modelling and a noticeably vibrant palette (which I haven't seen return since). But I don't exactly trust current era remake quality, and it still holds up pretty well anyhow. Only main series Tales I'd say really needs a remake at this point is Legendia, on most fronts aside from the music (would rather that not be given the obligatory rearrangement for a remake; port it straight).

Speaking of Tales, you want something sent to die, out here in the west anyhow, Eternia says hello. Low marketing, late PS1 game, with its predecessor having not sold well either (again, low marketing), and while I'm not sure if it effected game sales directly, it's worth noting it released a day before 9/11 happened. Namco actually went an extra mile with it compared to their handling of Destiny here, doing an English dub for the main plot instead of cutting most of the voicing and having a supervisor keep a close eye on the translated script to better ensure accuracy, only to seemingly go out of their way so it wouldn't sell. Actual copies of Destiny and Eternia PS1 are a good $100 and $120 respectively here; they never even put either PS1 game on the PSN (same as in Japan, for whatever reason), the PSP port of Eternia was never brought to NA (most likely due to SCEA's ruling on ports; PAL got it under Ubisfot publishing). It's like they don't want people to play them outside of piracy, which is certainly a better option considering those prices.

Kevin > everything

Combine with atleast one stat-upper/downer and have a healer or use poto oils

That said, you can really beat the game with any sort of setup due to the Black Market items, some just have it easier.

Stat up/down spells tend to break the game really.

I think Angela mainly shines during mid-game, as you can easily overpower some nasty encounters with her magic, just be sure to have some Magic Walnuts ready.

Last time I played with her, I was pretty underleveled for a good portion of the game, until the very last dungeon before Mana Holy Land.

Fuck those enemies in Dragon's Hole which tend to launch a party-wide silencing attack as soon as you enter the screen

I should still do a Riesz main run some day, it's the only one I have left.

Maybe make her take the dark path this time, since I never do that.
