With the Lite, the shoulder buttons seem to wear out easily, along with the hinge being fragile. Something I suspected when my first gave out was that simply having something that big/heavy (even if it's not as much as the fat) in a pocket causes the side of the pocket to press the button due to gravity. The one I got after that (new; the prior having been preowned), I've taken it around in a mesh DS Lite travel pouch instead of regular pockets, and have had zero issue thus far.

You might try cleaning out the shoulder buttons if perhaps it's debris or something.

Yeah, my previous one I cleaned and it worked alright for a little while, but then stopped registering again. Between that and the hinge cracking, it was why I went and got a new one. Must have been back in 2011-13 or so, whenever it was that toysrus had their remaining Lite stock in clearance. But that mesh case is real nice; fits the system perfectly since it's apparently an official accessory, has a clip for backpack or belt loop, and a zipper pocket for extra styluses and screen protectors.

Probably, if they were to roll with the same visual style. Issue I find is that it's likely much easier to just add an item that does a set thing than a whole new character, especially for one from a series Nintendo has been barely apt to care about (I'd put Golden Sun just above Baten Kaitos and Glory of Heracles at this point as far as RPG series they own go). But on the other hand, I can't figure out how that item (if it is one) would even work if as a standalone from Golden Sun.In universe, you'd run across those nodes, and then have to cast growth (and likely having to shift around your djinn to access it because it's dual earth/fire align) and then you could climb it. If it's stand alone, would a character just rip it out and toss it, and it would suddenly grow? Floro Sprout would make more sense as an item; pick it up, chuck it at a foe, and watch them lose control of their character for a while. I don't really have hopes for Isaac, or Felix for that matter, but it almost seems like more something that would be moveset related. Kind of like Snake being able to plant mines and C4 (minus the element of surprise, anyhow.): set a seed beforehand on the stage, and then later cast Growth after it sprouts with the same input, and have some horrible plant grow to adult size and damage/snare anything in range.

I hope they bring back Golden Sun and give it a better treatment than Dark Dawn. At this point they should just remake the original two and reboot it from there. Dark Dawn was garbage.

I don't trust modern remakes. Too often shit gets fucked. That's not to say there aren't good ones out there, but of late they're few and far between. And considering how Dark Dawn turned out, I'm not even sure Camelot wanted anything to do with the series past the first two games. If they did make a GS4, what exactly would they do for the playable cast? TLA having a new main four, and then expanding to eight as it included the original GS cast was neat, but Dark Dawn already had eight party members. Would they just have it be a new group? Would they somehow delevel them back to 2-3 and have them start over like basic characters? I know the latter happens in various games (while not an RPG, Metroid is a prime example since it has the same protagonist in most of the series as well as chronology), but it's risky to do and requires some half decent justification, especially for a lengthy game. Other option I can think of would be to up the max level to 200, but with there likely no way to import a save from a DS era game to a present system, I don't think retaining levels and such is an option.

The poses of the characters in the HD Rathalos reveal extra you see in the first picture look somewhat similar to Golden Sun's standard combat pose, albeit at a 30* and flat angle instead of 45* and slightly elevated. Golden Sun was a launch title that really pushed the GBA hardware. I mean, sure you got your pre-rendered sprites, but the music was incredible, and the battle camera tricks haven't been brought together before in one title. Motoi Sakuraba knew how to tickle the sound chip's ivories to produce sounds that no one would think to accomplish.

That said, only the visual performance was what made the game incredible. The battles are bog-standard, and the story is a mess that tries to be deep, but ends up full of plot holes. Seriously, try coming up with a short description of what the story's about, without confusing grandma.

The enemy variety is occasionally lacking, with the monsters getting recolors sprinkled throughout different locations. While it's understandable due to hardware limitations, there's also the fact that none of their designs are memorable. I seem to recall a succubus at one point in TLA, and thinking, "Why does Nintendo have sex demons in their game?" That's all I can remember.

The locations, coupled with the music, are pretty nice however. Gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling, but that's just another aspect of the visuals I mentioned earlier.

Did you even play the game to completion? It's combat system was really good thanks to the summoning system. By temporarily giving up your more of your sprites and thus class power ups you gained you access to more and more powerful summons. Bosses actually had difficulty and you couldn't power through them like you could in other games. Enemies are just fodder to farm for weapons and to drain your psynergy.

The environmental puzzles were aslo some of the more engaging in any RPG at the time requiring spacial awareness since they weren't just "use this power in the way we laid out to make obvious" puzzles that plague adventure games like Zelda. Many required multiple visits to, secret entrances to maps and using and then canceling powers with other powers. Wind Rock was fairly tricky to wrap your head around and that was an early game dungeon.

Pit in Brawl was the prelude to Uprising, as samurai founded Sora LTD to work on first before Iwata forced Brawl on him. G&W and the climbers do stand out for oddity, but they makes sense for the historical context of the first non-garbage handheld and an NES title reflective of the earliest era (who isn't Mario). Mach Rider would also fit this criteria.

Samurai is/was friends with kojima, hence Snake. Sonic was Mario's marketing rival for years, where as sony has no single mascot to use. Bayonetta is now jointly owned by Nintendo, hence the exclusivity. Cloud is the dumbest case, since squenix has no singular face for the FF series outside of the chocobo and that would be a let down to everyone but the author of Chocobo Sisters if that ostrich was the series representative. Retroactively Cloud has become more relevant since the port of the original 7.

Duck Hunt and Simon are more iconic and than a platformer on one of Nintendo's least selling consoles. Bandai Namco who are working on Smash also own the Castlevania IP and with the amount of Castlevania content we're getting I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't push for him to get in.

I should also add that the Mother series never really took off in the first place, apart from as a niche cult classic.

Compared to other turn-based RPGs on the GBA at the time, Golden Sun 1 and 2 were far more interesting than the competition. Djinn and the their interactions with both the summoning system and your player class made the game much more dynamic and unique in combat. You had to scour the world for djinn to even hope to beat some of the later bosses, let alone the final and secret bosses. In theory you can make characters change class mid-battle with a well crafted djinn set-up and be effective, not many RPGs of the era can boast that.

The best part is their acquisition, more often than not, you'll find a djinn just sitting in some out of the way spot. It's both the clue that there's a puzzle nearby and the reward - provided that you can subdue it. Djinn are not only effective power-ups but they reward the player for exploration and puzzle solving.

Djinn are, in my mind, the most important feature in Golden Sun in distinguishing it from other turn-based RPGs.

My biggest fault with it aside for memorability is the mismatch of styles. Freeze Dong is nearly all comfy and ambient, Banjo is nearly all Kirkhope-esque, I'm not certain of the style but it has one.

That's the problem, we know nothing about it. Hell, I had to email David Wise personally to ask about that, and that's the only information that has been released about the game since E3's non-specific reveal thing.

Can't deny that I was quite excited when I saw it there, just because of how fucking unexpected it was. Was watching it with a buddy and he didn't believe me when I said it at first. But since then, the worry has set in. It's a Windows 10/Xbox One exclusive, after all.

Almost everything about it sucks. Considering the budget it should be no surprise. It's a 3rd party indie game that happened to have some well-regarded Rare devs on it. At it's time, Banjo-Kazooie was a highly polished AAA game, and if Yooka-Laylee was released during that time it would be among other turd-party licensed movie games in a bargain bin. I'm one of the biggest Rare fans in the world, and I didn't back it because I knew there was no chance of it living up to 1990's Rare platformers.

Good taste. Busted Bayou, Amyss Abyss and Seashore War are phenomenal as well, and TF has the only cover of Aquatic Ambiance that I don't despise.

Fun sidenote, I recall in some interview, David Wise said in regards to the names of his songs that he never came up with them. So Aquatic Ambiance to him was just "the water level song" and so on, and they were labeled based on the stages which were named by the other devs.

The fact he's a distinctive grunt is literally the appeal. He is literally just another guy who lives in the same world that actually managed to join and keep up with the champions and without any kind of fancy heritage or even weapon. Just picked up a spear, trained hard to use it, developed all kinds of skills and tagged along with Kirby, Dedede and Meta Knight to help save the cosmos. All he needs is a proper name, a little more character (acting cocky and blowing kisses to a crowd before a punching contest with Kirby) and putting that literal earthshattering strength to more individual use. I'm not ashamed he's an enemy turned into a friend and would even love Koopa Troopa or Paratroopa (just make the fucking shell green to keep the character iconic) as playable.
