Pirated it soon after it came out. I played it all the way through and had fun. There isn't really much to discuss, the gameplay is what it is, if you think it gets the feel of being a space marine right then you enjoy the game.

What's your dream 40k game /v/? A high quality RPG could be interesting, but there's so many different roles that could be played it would have to be story based.

>IG sending a dozen leman russes and a hundred men across an open field while 30 tau and 3 hammerheads try and play actual Wargame using gay shit like "cover"

It has potential to be awesome but I know it’s too ambitious for modern devs, and it would never make it. I love to dream about it though.

Tbh I feel that to properly get 40k feel, probably should have a variety of AI controlled cannon-fodder units and give players more higher level classes, Ork Nobs, Marines, Tyranid Warriors etc while having them basically help push their sides forces forward onto objectives/caps. Throw in some heroic commander/super vehicle options as rewards for doing well.

>players duking it out as say, Black Templars vs World Eaters with hundreds of AI controlled guardsmen and blood pact troopers, various basic vehicles as well. Capping various objectives gives your team major benefits, summoning specialized reinforcements (cap an imperial temple as chaos, get some AI bloodletters, retake a communications post as Imperials, can call in valkyrie strikes etc), giving passive bonuses and so on. Enemy headquarters has bunch of entrenched defenses, and bring out the commander/his bodyguard when attacked.

That wouldn’t be a bad idea either, but I’d rather if those AI characters were dangerous as well. Players shouldn’t be afraid to die (unless there’s some mechanic that limits eldar/tau more than other armies)

Just got done playing space marines for an hour on Exterminatus multiplayer, first time online, was fun. Nice to "progress" and get stronger weapons, having an actual varied role that matters to the team. Or at least giving different play styles.
