I think they understood what they fucked up in the remake and I hope Lorne will be more careful in what he updates for the next one I kinda wanna see him succeed because he was able to hold onto his IP after so many went after it.

Is New n Tasty even that bad? It looks fine to me. I don't really care that they changed the lighting a little.

The new controls were bad, the redesigned controls they patched in are not good. Every NPC chatters non-stop and you can't turn it off. The atmosphere is nearly as goofy as MO, far from the pinacle that was the original AO.

At the first time i played i didn't care much about the graphics or the changes in the original design. But the gameplay felt out of place (such as a health meter and sligs shooting from out of the screen)

The general asthetic of the game is very different though, it looks too clean. The older game had that sort of spooky and unsettling feel to the game, the new one not so much. Fun though.

Main thing is, unlike New n Tasty, this isn't a remake of Exoddus's story, it instead is exploring how fucking over Mullug and the meat farm is causing a massive cascade effect for most of that section of oddworld.

New 'n' Tasty is broken at 60 fps, so no, playing the original is best, since that was just the normal difficulty in the first place.

It's on Steam now as well and they patched it about a year ago so that it runs fine. It's still Munch's Oddysee, though, so it's not like it's suddenly become worth playing.

I don't remember that but no I do agree with you. The style and gameplay felt much better in the original game. not to mention the game holds a dear place in my heart being the one game I'd always play with my family over and over again. I've beaten it so many times now.

I'm not overly hyped about a massive departure from series mechanics into tower defence either. That being said, I do hope there's a way to exit possession non-fatally. I'd be sweet if I could lure a Scrab into contact with an enemy and have them kill eachother as a distraction and run past them as they are distracted.

Specifically to tower defense, no, but I don't really have a problem with a mechanical departure in theory. Stranger's Wrath had the right idea, it's not like an Oddworld game should have to be a cinematic platformer. I could easily see a Styx-style stealth game in Oddworld.

Sligs' response times are tied to the framerate. Most people don't realize either because they played on PS4 (40 fps) or played on Normal. It's understandable to forget since most of the time it's not that noticeable, but there is one part in the Scrabania canyon which is almost unplayable.
