I know at least 2 anons who think that, there's probably more who haven't spoken up
I thought it was decent, but far too easy. My first time on it was on the hard mode because I'd heard how easy it was, and it still was so absurdly easy. I did my best to avoid grinding as well too. The characters could've also been a lot better as well in my opinion. Cormag and his brother who's name I embarrassingly cannot remember right now were arguably the best part of it, in my opinion. Gerik and his crew and Innes were cool as well too. Tana was cute, but eh… Overall it felt like an underwhelming cast that really needed more appeal. They also really needed more charismatic and intriguing villains. Valter was alright, but he felt almost necessary for the game to even have conflict. The others were largely forgettable in my opinion.
Don't get me wrong OP, I'm not trying to shit on it. These were just my criticisms. I thought it was a pretty good game all around, but to me it was more like a 8/10 or so or in that range. It really needed more to compel me, in my opinion. I also feel that the world map really made things jarring, it didn't offer enough freedom to feel meaningful, yet it was annoying enough to take you out of the story and any sort of immersion you might've felt.
I personally thought 7 was the best fire emblem in general, but 8 is pretty high on my list. I still have some very heavy hitters to go through in my backlog (4 and 5) but those are a ways away.
