a614d4  No.15617599

It should work in the following manner:

1. It comes in the form of a list of games ordered from best to worst overall ratings (if multiple reviews are given, they are merged together, rotten tomatoes style, except only with /v/'s verified and selected critics being the exclusive source of the reviews), the games on the list can be filtered via the use of tags, allowing for only games that have and/or do not have certain tags applied to them to show up.

we make a best to worst list because this is a games recommendation site, and simply listing a bunch of games of varying quality in the alphabetical order of their titles, or chronological order of their release dates, forces the reader to wade through the shittier games to get to something good, we want them to start with the best, move onto the next best, then go to the third best, and really get a feel for our board's collective tastes in games.

2. Once a game title is clicked on, it takes you to it's page and shows a brief description of it's component elements, by which I mean things like such as plot, setting, and characters, or gameplay, difficulty, and fun, or graphics, audio, and controls (<- purely examples pulled out from my ass to illustrate what I'm talking about by the word "components" - the smaller elements that make up a game which can be independently analyzed).

3. as for money, we can go by no funding, donations (and maybe offering rewards?), ads (from 8chan approved advertisers), etc.

4. as for who should run it, the first thing we should try is to try and get the /v/ admins and mods to admin and mod the wiki as well, considering how I don't expect the wiki to be particularly busy, it shouldn't be too much of an ask.

If that wont work, we simply figure that out in this thread, some anon tried to start an 8/v/ recommended games wiki, we could take that one and renovate it.

da401c  No.15617607

Retarded idea. We're anonymous.

If you want a wiki, you need to vet it and prevent people from poisoning it with socjus crap. Which needse an account

What's the point of a wiki when we have recommendation charts?

Frankly, I even see those as a shit idea, half the time, I think the games are shit and the other half they're mediocre at best.

The only way something like this could work would be objective truths, things like hard FPS caps obligatory totalasscancer joke here, but it's a sign of a lazy fucking port by a lazy dev, online-only games or games tied to dedicated servers, DRM/Denuvo tracking and so on. I think directories for all of those already exist, though, they just need more attention and work.

OP here - Here's how this works:

1. I make a pitch.

2. you criticize the problems with it and offer an alternative way of doing things to avoid those problems.

3. I agree with you on those changes, I thank you for them, and the original idea changes itself.

4. someone else make a criticism and/or offers an idea, repeating step 2 and 3, the cycle continues until the final plan is reached that everyone approves of, or at least, does not disapprove of.

where is our recommendation charts? all I can find are the charts halfchan made, and those are awful.

This is the most retarded idea I've heard from /v/.

>oh no, i can't let /v/ know that i enjoy things UNIRONICALLY

>i better follow the /v/-approved games if i don't want to get called a faggot

I think you are misunderstanding the whole point of the recommendations wiki idea, think of it like a top ten list.

It's meant for someone who wants to find something good to play to find something good to play, people are going to have their own preferences no matter what, but this might help some people to find something new and good.

I purposely leave a space in order to break up my points into a more readable format, I'm looking for the blank line, it's not a by product.

I've literally never used reddit in my life, my mother still uses it regularly, so I know a few things about it that I picked up second-hand from her.

>>15617774

I don't trust the ID system, and neither should you, I haven't been on 4chan since this site was first discovered by myself many years ago, I went back there recently, and It's like an unfamiliar world to me now.

I cringe when people blame 4chan for things, and act like it's still the end-all be-all of the internet, they make a great scapegoat and shield for us though.

You've broken up every single sentence here with a new line. If you want to separate your thoughts to make your writing easier to read, then I recommend sticking to the traditional ".", "!", and "?". You're clearly from reddit, and you've gotta go back.

>we

People always bring this out, but I've been around imageboards since years before the "1st" exodus, and that's never been a problem. It was fairly well accepted that boards had a hivemind to some degree. It's only recently I've seen people complain about it. I hate the undeserved criticism too, for the same reason I hate "muh sekret klub" - it's one of the subversive memes that allowed newfaggotry to get its foot in the door and take hold, which we already see plenty of given the amount of crossposters and rapefugees. I left cuckchan during that 1st exodus not just for Gamergate, but because I recognized that you were my brothers, not the obvious newfags that wanted to stay. When people do shit like "what does /x/ think of Y?" I feel the correct response is to tell them to fucking lurk more, not tell them that "every anon has a different opinion, and that is perfectly valid :)" for instance. Polite sage for off-topic.

Also, pretty sure this has been tried at least a couple of times, but I didn't bookmark any of them. I just naturally find good games by lurking here. We have no shortage of the same recommendation threads all the time anyway, and you don't even need a chart thread to notice what games people post the most of and praise for one reason or another. People call out shit taste also.

As a finishing touch.

OP is obviously new.

>unrelated pictures, only one of which actually fits somewhat

>/v/'s verified and selected critics

>we

>money, donations, 8chan approved advertisers

>someone else should develop and support some faggots idea

>"admins" and "mods" of all people

>if my our shit doesn't work we should appropriate someone else's work

Most likely a gamergate, originally not imageboard refugee.

>>15618131

The answer to your problem is within a contradiction where you point out that collective is accepted on boards, but then tell some faggot that wants to know the opinion of that collective to fuck off and do some legwork himself, to individually piece the whole picture together on case by case basis.

There is already a wiki, but no one has used it for years. In fact, it's hard to even locate organically; a while back another anon was looking for it, and I had to use backup text I'd written to even find it. And considering your "OP here" on a board with IDs, clearly you've drifted in from somewhere else wouldn't even be aware of it. Go the fuck back if you can't even be bothered to lurk and see basic functions of the board and/or site.

This, it was made years? ago, and unlike the /tech/ review sites which occasionally get updated was completely fucking dead the last time I checked. Maybe I'll dig it out of my bookmarks and post it ITT, but that's not a promise.
