The best thing would be to have some kind assisted in-home living service, like where they send a part time nurse over to help during the day, and they get to stay in their own home. Base SW4. Empires is really dry and feels like a poorly thought out game mode they could have added into the original game if they had developed it in time.
But base original SW4 had an entire campaign largely somewhat true to history (insofar as musou titles ever can be) which was pretty enthralling, and if you don't want to play that/if you're done with that you can choose to play Chronicle Mode from the get-go instead.
Your created character is some ronin chronicling everything and everyone in the age, going from point to point on maps and depending on who you fight/help along the way (it's largely random) you eventually get events for each character of the cast. Most of the girls are romantic, some aren't (you can't woo Hideyoshi's wife for example), most of the guys are bros and there are some changes here and there depending on if you're playing as a girl or guy.
It's actually pretty fun. Probably the best extra mode I have seen, though don't expect too much outside of this. It's not DW8 Empires for example (for good and bad). It's just a fun mode you go around slashing guys, accompanied by whichever character you got close to (you get close to them all in time) as you unlock regions of Nip Island.
That's why I'm saying if they're making an extra mode for created characters they can at least do this much. It doesn't take a whole lot to implement and it's fun.
Unless Bamco was too cheap, which is pretty likely.

Talim player here, observations so far:
Talim is way better than she was in IV, but she's still pretty complicated to play and unsafe in most of her moveset. Wind Fury B is godlike though. What I hate most is how little movement Wind Charmer actually gives you, I'm constantly getting hit by vertical attacks that have some bullshit tracking, she just doesn't get out of the way far enough.
4 and 5 bar matches feel pretty good to play, not enough input lag to complain about, at least on my already super low lag monitor. TV players might suffer at 4 bars. 3 bars is where things start to go off the rails. The inputs still feel mostly OK but the lag in the match causes the audio to stutter. We saw this in the beta too, shame it didn't get fixed.

Also I don't get the point of nu-marketing, I want this game because SC was one of the first 3d games I ever played after the SNES and I always liked it. I've never fallen for marketing because I don't pick shit up that I haven't checked out first. Really, the only reason marketing should exist is to allow people to see the product to make the decision themselves, get it in the news feed, that sort of thing. It used to be that Marketing was just securing adverts space and making people aware of the product, if you were selling Tupperware that's all you had to do, list the functions of the product and that's it.
But entertainment marketing is up it's ass and full of liars. It's actually Illegal in America to portray false advertising, but it stops no one mostly because the fine can't be more then 10,000 bucks, and for some godawful reason it doesn't effect marketers.

I think it is just that Japanese devs are new to the whole PC thing and do not understand the stigma attached to DRM. Especially since before denuvo people mostly didn't care because everyone used Steam DRM anyways. So they just see it as an investment protection. You could safely say that for Sega, Square, and Capcom at least they put their Denuvo notices on the store page and are not ashamed about it. Bamco though have started hiding denuvo from the store page. They know people don't like it and try to hide it from them. Which tells me maybe Japan will start learning. If nothing else they should at least see GoG as a way to sell their games to more people, like XSeed does.

The have a fat ass buffer on their shit ass netcode and when you play online you are dropping so many frames it's not even funny. you have to be exactly frame perfect if you play below like 5 bars. 4 is decent.
If you want to git gud all you have to do is go into practice mode or lan and pick a character and just play that character over and over and over and then you make your own combos or use combos already in training and find which attacks are safest and have good frames. Then you go online and win. But playing for frames and meta is so boring in my opinion, I like how jap players play which is just for style points but they're still good at the game. anyone can spam but if you learn one character's style so well that you can play not meta and win and look cool at the same time that is a good player imo. I had jap friends that were like 31 percent winrate and 47 percent winrate like me cause we played for style points but were still good. Tournament level meta spammers basically are only 70 percent winrate because they know which attacks have best frame data. Online, frame data matters so much because namco. on lan you can play for style points and kick ass because frames aren't as important since they arent chopped up and you're at max locked fps. But since theres pc now I might get this and git gud with style points. wonder if I can get 50 winrate without playing the meta.

well for that you should just go to player match and fight on the character you like and you'll find it naturally. every character has a style of movement that they prefer and a range of attack that they hit the most or strongest with. For example, most of xianghua's animations move her forward or up and her attacks that do the most damage hit middle and high, usually vertical in most of the games. Killik is the opposite, he likes to move sideways or backwards and the attacks that do the most damage are horizontals that hit low and middle. at least before sc6. If you were on a brand new character I would just pick the one you like and just learn all the moves in player matches even if you lose. once you know the moveset just start making combos that you think look cool and then as you get better and learn the character you will find little secrets that they don't tell you in training mode. The game is a lot more complex than training mode will tell you. But learning the moveset is just playing player matches. I would not recommend playing new people because shitty players are hard to predict with their moves, better players are predictable because they know what they're doing and have to intentionally mixup while a new player might just spam since they don't know the moveset. Play people better than you, pick one character (or two if they have similar styles/lore), and learn the whole moveset and you'll git gud enough to beat like 80 percent of the player base after maybe 1000 games on that one character.

also if you want to learn what attacks not to do, play new people and don't attack and just try to dodge them. just having good movement and knowing the opponent's moveset you will be able to dodge most of their attacks anyway, and it's a good way to figure out which ways are best for your character to counter. Don't attack first and just let them come at you, dodge, and since you learned the moveset, just pick a random move to counter with until you find which ones feel natural and effective
