I'll give you that the devs being sane gives the game less of a chance of being complete shit, but I hate the reality we live in where being sane and unpozzed is now a major selling point.
The only thing that looks remotely neat in the trailer is the exploration, everything else looks like generic DnD shit. Why would I play this over the older Infinity engine games like Icewind Dale or more interesting modern crpgs like D:OS2?

Actually watching the video I noticed that when you hover over enemies you get a pretty thorough breakdown of their stats. I don't know if I like that or not. You know exactly which of their saving throws is the weakest, their AC, etc. I guess if it has arbitrary saves it doesn't matter anyways, but it does feel strange.

If the pictures and the trailer are anything to go off of. The only thing that this game has going that makes it stand out from other current rpg games is that world map. If it's as large as they say and those wandering caravans, patrols, and monsters work as intended then at least the adventuring would be pretty interesting.
Hell, if this game gets good mod tools that let me world build and plant villages where I want, and make placing npc's and quest givers, and story triggers easily without bugging out then that would be wonderful. I wouldn't even need to play the game if I could just make something fun.

Pathfinder Kingmaker's world map is limited, isn't as interesting to look at, and I think small especially compared to this game. Also there's barely any full towns to explore. The random encounters are alright, but boring and you don't see caravans/bandits/dragons/etc wandering around on the world map. Plus the game is a whole janky and funky bugged mess. I haven't finished it due to all the bugs, and it's on the back burner until I care to try it again. Also not to mention the kingdom system isn't as intuitive. So, it's not even a good comparison when it comes to world map, especially when you can row a boat across a sea.
The turn based is a neutral point to me just like Pathfinders pause type action, but the hex bases are welcome plus they're something that Pathfinder Kingmaker should have kept from the pnp.
