Just testing it now, it let's you see the servers but it kicks you out saying you have an unauthorized key.

If you mess with the key file it asks for a new one and even the original key i in there fails. I fixed it by restoring the original file that i backed up prior to messing around.

Rather then a set of keys, it uses a new single license key provided by beamdog. So even if you have legit older keys you can't just slot em in.

Actually there was some type of 'nwnkeygen' thing you had to run for the game that would generate a new key for you to use, you had to replace the key that was already in the gamefiles (which was the one everybody already Had) and then you could play on the multiplayer servers without getting kicked because someone had a duplicate code.. Sinfar is still holding on to Diamond, and the developer even made it possible to connect to the servers with both EE and diamond - something that beamjews always said it's impossible, for rather obviou$$$$ reasons.

I won't lie, I stayed away from any RP server with "adult" or "18+" in the name when I played regularly because it was enough of an ordeal trying to play on normal RP servers. I play P&P RPGs so I like storybuilding and most RP servers have a lot of cool mechanics and addons. But the community is always either atrocious or segmented into atrocious and less atrocious on those servers. Couple years back I tried to get into Arelith; that was a mistake, quit a month later when one of the most (((well-connected))) players on the server infiltrated the mercenary company I joined and broke it up literally just for fun.

I'm into roleplay for a long while, and I can confirm that plenty of players are cancer: taking out-of-character stuff in game, banning people for wrongthink on the forums, fucking cliques of friends ignoring everyone else, the "connected" ones you mentioned etc. But, despite all of that, this is the most fun I've had in a video game ever, probably. No other video game offers it. And, while there are retards like everywhere in the world, there are truly talented and hardworking people that make it a pleasure to play. Only alternative are tabletop games.

Even on sinfar, despite its social focused, you can find good roleplay, and can always check those other servers that use the scripting.

Some servers are better than others, true. The saddest thing about Arelith is that the most appealing parts of the module are what enable shitters like the tiefling player I mentioned. Namely, player-run guilds and towns. That player was Knight Commander of the main town's knighthood and well connected to a bunch of (((wealthy evil mages))). It's the type of thing that sounds cool on paper but the player is actually just a complete asshole who thinks they're cool. It's a shame because I thought the module is very well designed and GMs are active (and not overtly dickish unlike said player).

The differences are very minimal. No bugs were fixed as far as I'm aware. There's a few extra options in the settings menu, including a UI "slider" for high resolutions whose only values are 1x or 2x, skipping the entire middle of the slider (and pissing off people with stunted vision like myself). 2x is comically large and 1x is just the original game, so enjoy that. It wouldn't have even been that difficult to implement scaling for each resolution but they were too lazy.

Also included are a bunch of premium modules that suck. No seriously, there were good ones but they only included shitty, unfinished modules – I think there's one that I kinda liked but it wasn't that great (despite being finished).

My main concern is something I'll call 'joining too late'. I've had a similar concern, but when it comes to roleplay-focused servers there isn't much to worry about. Making builds is rather straightforward, it's D&D, can make the character effective without going for any elaborate powerbuilds. Only thing to become competent in is some dungeons that might require a strategy, but rarely it's more than "buff up and go". And when it comes to roleplaying, it's rather pleasant thing to learn if you're not experienced in it.

Most of these "improvements" are garbage-tier. Only real thing is toolset upgrades, and -maybe- this 64-bit support IF they'll manage it. GOG release took them 6 months since Steam release. Literally NOTHING was done to UI or models, these plastic shit they've created is optional content. NOTHING was added - except bugs.

Goal would be hack/slash,quests, and rp-lite.

If you're just talking about the original campaign, then yeah, it's not great. However, Shadows of Undrentide is good, Hordes of the Underdark is really good, and there are a lot of good custom modules as well. You should give the expansions and modules a try if you haven't already.
