Once you get pretty far, do the bitterblack isle dungeons, go towards the last few areas and save/load constantly on a tier 4 chest until you get the weapon/armor for that specific chest location. Refer to wiki to see what specific chests drop. Endgame weapons/armor/rings are absurdly OP. The rings unlock your skill to a secret level and gives a bigger AoE, cooler animation.
I don't remember other secrets, just refer to wiki for the location you are in to find out items you don't want to miss. Same with upgrading, BBI DLC you can farm the upgrade materials from monsters.

Worth buying if only because the minor online functionality is a major aspect of the game, although I'm not sure it will work quite as well now that it's been out so long and that most pawns are going to be overleveled for new players.
Worth "supporting" if only for the possibility that we get a sequel that lives up to all the potential and possibilities that they had to cut short with this game. If we get a game that just expands on everything in the first game, even if it doesn't fully fix all the weirder design choices, I'd still buy it. More classes, bigger map, more monsters, more weapons, more dungeons.. Good GOD, the dungeons alone make DD worth it and it would be a shame if we never got more of them.

Yeah. They set up these unique encounters that make the world seem dynamic the first time you run across them, but then the same encounter respawns over and over. It clashes with the way they expect you to play the game, which is constant back and forth travel. By the time you're level 30, though, you should be strong enough to just slice through the weak mobs and you should have a couple of port crystals set up.

magick archer is one of those vocations where it's really fucking hard to tell if you're actually making any progress until you hit level 120 or so, then you basically become a killing machine. It's fucking strange that it's balanced so you spend more time not playing as the vocation than playing as it. People call efficient leveling a meme, but when you can pound awakened damons asshole without breaking a sweat, you'll understand why people invest in it. That and it lets you use the kind of gear you want to use, fashion design is half the battle.

I tried it some time ago. Character models were definitely more attractive on average, but also more generic and character creation had no impact on the stats of your character. So weight and height were meaningless. The other thing that you'll see right off the bat is that whatever was remotely interesting about the setting was completely ignored. There are two dragons, one is evil and the other good, and everyone is an arisen because why not. I don't even remember much of it, it's typical MMO garbage which makes Dogma's flawed story look great. It doesn't even give you any reason why you should care about what's happening.
Vocations were changed a bit. IIRC, there are only 4 skills now instead of six (warrior got buffed because of this though) and everyone lost secondary weapon skills (strider only has daggers, ranger only has a bow). They also got affected by MMO logic by trying to enforce certain roles which ends up making them boring because that's just how Dogma is. So mage/priest, magick archer, and mystic knight are just boring classes. Strider is still fun as expected, sorcerer deals the highest damage in the game, fighter is roughly the same from what I saw but just with less usable skills. Another thing is that around when I was playing they were adding vocations that jumped around more and had more flashy effects, so make of that what you will.
The world itself is pretty generic and lackluster. It's possible that some DA dungeon crawl was waiting in the late game but I didn't get that far. All of the new enemies are really badly made too. They are either just complete reskins of already existing enemies from Dogma, or they were horribly designed with barely any work put into them. An example of a reskin would be that tree which is just the same as a cyclops/golem, and a boss which is practically Damon. An enemy that isn't a reskin would be orcs, who only had a handful of animations which also happened to make them immune to stagger as a side effect (at least as far as I could tell).
That's also not even getting into the strict Japan only aspect. There were people playing from the west through a proxy, but speaking English can supposedly get you banned. Not like anyone was around to report people since the server was dead aside from me and a few other people playing. Overall it's just a worse Dogma in MMO format. Don't bother, and especially don't bother if you are looking for a game made by the same people. It was made by a different team and it really shows.

You don't even need the gear for anything. It's just grinding for the sake of grinding and it's mostly removed from the game itself. You add easy mode for the casuals and game journalists, you add optional grinding for the autists.

Other players don't seem to hire those either; guess they prefer having their Strider pawns use shitty bow skills and do pitiful damage instead of MORE SKULL SPLITTER.

Take off the melee weapons so it keeps shooting, and give it mushrooms to keep it shooting some more. Challenger/Scather preferred.

Spellscreen is the important one here. That buff is god tier and a pawn that uses it frequently is a huge boon to the party. High Grapnel, when it works, is also great. Do NOT pick Mages with Medicant first as it causes them to needlessly spam Anodyne, but Utilitarian/Medicant works fine.

Pawns can be really weird. This idea works on paper except for some reason, ranger pawns eventually just go braindead and resort to only using melee even without daggers. I would say that it was just me being bad at training mine, but there were other ranger pawns that were really good that became terrible a month later.

Also, the real problem is not necessarily lolis on PC version as much as it is princess garb pawns at low levels and other horrible creations like it with bad inclinations and skills as you go higher up. The most successful pawns for the most part are well designed ones stat wise who perform as they should, usually made by people who came from the 360/PS3. A good amount of those just so happen to be loli pawns. It would be better if more people made pawns with proper inclinations, useful skills, and suitable equipment for whatever stage of the game it is.

The more you play the game on PC the more the whole thing stings because you can see how the typical Nipponese console mentality, console limitations and budgetary limitations really shit the bed. At first you notice it in quality-of-life improvements but then the enemies start getting more repetitive, your lack of versatility keeps you from switching up the combat, your inventory is full of wasted potential and the QoL problems really start to grate and you notice how much of the map is walled off… And then you get to the Dragon, the post-game Everfall and BBI and you instantly spring to the kind of full mast you haven't had since the first time you got ambushed by a Chimera in the woods as you realize that this is what the game should have been like all along. And when you leave and spend ten seconds on the ro- 'WOLVES TRAVEL IN PACKS, ARISEN! And you let out a hearty sigh.
Also I'm pretty sure that Deep Down either killed DD2 or delayed it until until the PS5.

And then repeat that experience every few minutes whenever you try to run somewhere. They're way, way too obnoxious to be the most common overworld encounter and if you're at a point in your playthrough where they don't die in a couple of hits (like in the postgame where Hellhounds show up) they make traveling overland absolutely miserable unless you just sprint past and hope you don't run into more of them that will slow you down even more. Even when you can fuck their shit up they're still annoying just by being around you.

The way damage is calculated is kind of fucked in a lot of ways but most the most relevant bit to this discussion on ogres is that the game heavily favors hard and slow on enemies with high defense. To pull some illustrative numbers out of my ass: if something has a defense of 100, your attack is 110 and you land ten attacks in ten seconds you'll do a grand total of 100DAM [(110ATK - 100DEF = 10DMG) x 10 attacks] but if your attack is 300 and you attack once every ten seconds you'll do 200 damage [300ATK - 100DEF = 200DAM x 1 attack] - twice the output of the first class. I mainly hate ogres because as a fight they're simultaneously tedious, boring and low-risk - you basically just jump on their back until they try to suplex you, you wail on them nonstop until they get back up and then you rinse and repeat as necessary. Unless, god forbid, you actually hit their weak spot and then they basically put the fight on hold for 30 seconds or so as they cower while soaking up anything you throw at them. Also, if you're playing DA you have a reusable ferrystone in your item storage that will become a more cherished possession than your waifu by the time you're halfway through with the game.

Protip: don't fuck up like I did and head straight for the ending because you want to see how the story ends. Once you finish the extremely brief post-game quests (the only actual quest is collecting Wakestones; the rest is just WORDSWORDSWORDS for ~15 minutes, if that) your game is saved, you're kicked back to the main menu and you have to do NG+ to play any more - which means going through the entire fucking game from beginning to end to get back to the post-game. And that isn't very satisfying because apparently the "+" in "NG+" means fuck all as far as difficulty is concerned; the enemies are the same as the first time around.
That said, BBI is fucking great (especially with a lower-level character) and you can go there anytime.

You can visit BBI at any time, just be aware that it resets on NG/NG+. If you never go to BBI in NG then it's a total non-issue and if you only get your toes wet it's a virtual non-issue. Also, BBI isn't "post-game"; it just has post-game difficulty - if you really wanted to, there is absolutely nothing stopping you from going there first thing after getting your vocation and then getting raped to death as you try to solo the pack of dickwolves in the first room. The post-game I'm referring to is what happens to Gransys after you kill the Dragon, especially the Everfall.

You should. I went there in my 20s on hard mode, buttfucked my way through the place until I couldn't any more and then left with a new set of daggers, a whole lot of dosh, some rift crystals and two cursed items that turned out to be pretty much worthless after I had them purified.

You can knock the main story out in a day with any class and a few hours with a strider or ranger (speedrunners have gotten a normal any% down to less than an hour and fifteen minutes) if you ignore everything but the main quests, cheese a little and don't die; the actual story portion of the game is hilariously short.

Just picked up this game last week and beat it last night.
For the first… 1/4 of the game, I thought I had been tricked into buying a shitty meme game that 3 people actually enjoyed and everyone else pretended they did. Like the first 1/4 of the game is just really bad.
But once you start fighting the big monsters, then stuff gets fun, since it feels like a proto-monster hunter mixed with DMC1. There are some REALLY kickass fights in this game, to the point where its almost worth the game just for some of these fights (at least the $10 bucks I paid for it). Grigori is definitely the best dragon boss in vidya, and is in the running for best final boss in general.
I enjoyed it, and actually was going to immediately start a new file after "closure", but about 15 minutes into the game I remembered why I hated it so much, and so I've lost all motivation to pick it up again.
I don't know if my pawn still exists, but I had a little tan girl I named Kit who turned into a beastly sorcerer near the end game. So if anyone sees her, that would be me I guess.

When you go to the rift to hire pawns you have a fuckhuge list of filters you can set to get the specific pawns you want, including sex. Once you have all of your criteria down you can basically just send pawns away (via right-clicking) to get the ones with the looks you want.

Yeah but it's a pain in the ass and they're available for sale in unlimited quantities (extremely affordable if you're playing on hard mode like you should be) after you finish the wyrm hunt quests. Oh, and when you get the quest to kill the Griffin you shouldn't hold back anything - pop four periapts, get a fire enchant if you can (not all that important) and then spam Tenfold Flurry at its head non-stop. I disagree, it straight up destroys the normal difficulty curve if you're ranged, since if you aren't a mongoloid the x2 damage multiplier on enemies doesn't do dick.
The enemy difficulty curve goes something like this:
<(Trivial) > (Average) > (Difficult) > (Deadly)
On Normal, assuming one tends to progress through Gransys around the path of least resistance (the "intended" path), you're going to be fighting a majority of (Difficult) foes with the odd high-tier (Deadly) enemy thrown in. Once you've cleared the area, everything tends to get bumped down a peg compared to your relative power level, and this continues as you advance through the game.
On "Hard" mode, following the same path will quickly have you scale so quickly that the (Difficult) enemies you haven't even encountered yet are already bumped down to (Trivial). Two of my runs have been on HM, Ranger/MK and both felt genuinely bad compared their Normal counterparts. I don't know if I'm alone in this, but I love slugging through an area of challenging enemies, progressing, and then just destroying them the next time I roll through. HM completely robbed me of that, and everything was smooth sailing after I hit Gran Soren.
I'd never recommend someone goes through HM for their first run, it'll completely spoil the flow of the game.

Pure blue. MK and MA have shit stat growth so you would gimp yourself if you try to use those to get good at magic. Sorcerer has best magic stat growth. The stat bonuses from leveling up get gimped past level 100 which is why it's important to get those up before then. You should not worry too much about min-maxing though. Having well balanced stats is enough, you can make up the rest through augments and gear.

to tackle BBI you have to know the mechanics. You need to be able to stun, close gaps, and avoid damage. You can theoretically jump into BBI as low as level 50, you just need to be good at the games systems to pull it off. You shouldn't have any problems beating awakened daimon at level 100. When people say good gear, they mean weapons and rings mostly. After a certain point, the armor stats stop mattering so much, just dress your character and pawn up in a way you like.
Before you try it, make sure you have a full set of augments, have all your skills set up, and be sure to stock up on curatives. bring some wakestones too

To expand on this a bit: gear is nice, but for the love of god, dragonforge your shit. Hunt down drakes and make sure all your weapons are dragonforced for both you and your pawn, preferably a few pieces of armor, too. As far as armor mattering goes: unless you've leveled up almost exclusively as a Fighter and are wearing a full Steel set, shit's gonna stomp your ass to death in BBI. And spells are gonna ruin your day unless you've leveled up as blue vocations and are wearing upgraded high level clothy armor. And in both of those cases, you'll still get hurt quite a bit. That being said, high level Fighter pawns in fully upgraded Steel armor are the tankiest motherfuckers around, if you can find one of those, it's a really good pick to learn BBI since they won't die every 10 seconds.

I went in at level 60 as an MA, got my ass destroyed but it was mostly from poor skill loadouts than my armor. I didn't do an efficient job leveling either, I did 1-10 as mage, 11-20 as sorcerer then killed some cows to get ranger augs and called it good. The rest was pure MA, which has fucking atrocious stat growth. Even then, I wasn't getting sent to pound town despite playing dress up with my character instead of going for the right armor. The first time you play BBI you'll get trashed, it's unavoidable.
tbh I think mobility is more important than being able to take hits. Better to avoid a hit than to tank it.

Gotta make your own preset. Mine makes the game a bit more saturated and slightly darker. It's subtle (not like all those oversaturated crushed color shit presets you'd find floating around the net). It does the trick for me. The bland colors in the game always bothered me on PS3 so it was basically the first thing I did after I got the PC version.
But the thing is, you have to make the preset yourself and calibrate it to your setup to get the most optimal result. I took one of the ReShade presets on nexus and adapted it to my needs because I'm lazy.
