Heavensward relics require a lot of time and effort to make. They start out at item level 160 or so, and cap out at 275. For much less time and effort, you can spend tomestones on a welfare 260 weapon and upgrade it to 270. Both will last you approximately the same amount of time in Stormblood questing.
But the Heavensward relics are all pretty nice looking, so if glamour is your thing you can always grind them out in your spare time.

Its getting better but still not HW tier. I firmly believe stormbloods issues come from two places. First they split the story, art and sound design right down the middle just because japan sees edo shit as generic and boring as we do low western fantasy. think morrowind vs oblivion. Interesting or generic landscapes and it couldn't hold its own and had to parisatise the ala mhigo story which didnt get all the time it deserved.
Second i totally believe eureka was intended to come out at launch as the downtime supporting spine of all content and its trash.
They seem to begrudgingly accept the overwhelming majority hate eureka so i expect it to be cut short and with the story's wrapping up and refocussing on the actual story of FFXIV as a whole rather than expansion specific story its taken a significant uptick in interesting shit going on.
God knows i'm farming tome stones for the first time in like 6 months so they are doing something right but god do they need to improve because the userbase is visibly tanking.

I've met tons of certified cool doods just doing those things.

Crafting is a slog that makes world of warcraft's look well thought out. I hope you either have a ton of gil to buy HQ versions for leves or more time than common sense because you need basically all of them at max level to even attempt to make gear that isn't laughably horrible at endgame
The story is better than an average MMO, but once you beat the MSQ (exception of vanilla who manages to completely run out of story around level 30 and never recovers) the expansions launched with, you hit peak filler that has such great lines as "look at these guys" who then get written out before they even accomplish anything.
Endgame is exactly what you'd expect from an MMO, a item treadmill with really easy fights that as opposed to being based on skill are based on no one messing up mechanics and being at least decently geared.

Dark Knight is finally at the point where you can run dungeons and have some amount of fun, but it's still a broken mess of horrible decisions and a shadow of its former self
WAR is fixed and is now unga bunga me fell cleave but their rotation is much more simple than before.
PLD is fun for the first time ever but I still don't really like it.

It plays like WoW with a slower GCD but with way more oGCD abilities, and the jobs themselves have way more depth than WoW classes but the fights themselves are more like choreographed dances than the more chaotic encounters you'd expect.
The trial is bad, because it caps you at level 35 and basically the entire vanilla game is pure aids to play through as of Stormblood unless this is literally your first MMO. Story becomes fantastic during Heavensward (the first expac) and then dips down to just decent for Stormblood. Though, these most recent patches have the next expansion shaping up to be Heavensward-tier story-wise so there's that.
I cannot stress enough that the vanilla story is awful and will break you if you just try to dip in casually, so I highly recommend watching videos of high level gameplay or even (if you can stomach the cancer) twitch streams to see what the gameplay is like, because similar to WoW it's basically a completely different game until you start nearing the level cap. Since everything in the game is locked behind story progression, it could potentially be weeks before you reach endgame unless you're rushing through and skipping every single cutscene. Videos related are an example of how the game currently plays at max level, though the player has all skill/ability effects disabled so it's nowhere near as flashy as you'd actually get.
Embedded is the current hardest fight in the entire game,

Heavensward (HW; First Expansion) is a LOT better. The story is actually really good and feels like it pays you off for dealing with ARR's shit. Even the between expansion content for HW is great. Its also helped that the areas are nice, the music is great, and even the side stuff can be top notch in places. The normal raid (Alexander) is in my opinion, the best raid the game has gotten so far. This is definitely as good as it gets.
Stormblood (SB; Current Expansion) is alright. I wouldn't say at all that its as bad as ARR when it comes to story, as I'd say the experience DURING the expansion is fine enough. Its engaging, if a little cliche. Its the between expansion content that fucking blows though. I won't say its as bad as ARR's slog of a story, but it keeps having glints of a great story before throwing it out the fucking window so we can keep the current status quo. Its honestly the side story and raids where you'll get your money's worth on this one.

Personally, I've been thinking for some time now that there's no free will since you have no control over the factors that form the kernel you're entire being is based on. Put simply, you have zero control over your biology and upbringing, nor the people and things you'll stumble into in life. Virtually nothing is tangibly in your control.
I understand none of this is revolutionary, but it's something I've been internalizing.
What it means for tropes like this is, yes indeed, had Yotsuyu's upbringing been different she would more or less have the same personality, but expressed very differently. However the fatal trajectory she was born into prevented that.

So with Fan Fest next week we will no doubt get the confirmation if the "Shadowbringers" leak is legit or not but what jobs do you think will be teased? Like what do you want and what do you expect?
What i want: something out there like Puppet Master. A Tank that is not the actual tank themselves but a another character using ROG/NIN gear that hangs semi back while a series of gothic looking puppets right out of devil may cry actually do the tanking and you command them like a pet, moving them to points and buffing them while laying down shit like caltrops a ways away then using your puppet to kite the boss into them. Something a half jester/circusy vibe with some creepy baroque undertones to the class.
What i expect: Geomancer. Melee range magic dps. Shares gear with Dragoon. Visually a kind of lightly armoured shinto priest. Uses positionals like monk but based on a compass. Same moves based on position to target adds an elemental effect. Strike with bell/chime with water for a self heal, with wind to give attack speed buff, with earth to bind enemy and fire to give dot for example.
Whats your wants/expectations?

Back on the subject of tropes, it makes the battle between fate and free will more entertaining. For me because I kinda agree with fate, but I also enjoy seeing it subverted by the virtue of strong willpower.
I tried to bring this back on track, but I don't think that trope has been properly displayed in FF14 yet.

I didn't know there was that specific term for what I described. However I did not think it was rooted in Original Sin as I have no Abrahamic leanings. Though I do think, in theory, if you could 100% map the past you could 100% map the future. I also think this is impossible and improvable. I just noticed how retarded that word is. It could be read that you are able to improve something.
As for the retardation of Determinism itself, I'd agree; as indicated in my post. At best I think it can help to remember compassion for your enemies, we'll say Yotsuya to stay on topic. You could sympathize with her, she didn't choose to be the way she is, before putting her down not out of malice, but necessity. Ideally you could try to rehabilitate her, but I do not believe that would work, and even if it did she'd have no place to be. Of course this could also backfire as a weakness. Someone could over sympathize with her, or any enemy, and be cut down in their hesitation. This is Determinism viewed in the most positive light.
Worst-case scenario, if someone truly accepts Determinism they are trapped as you (or him?) put it in a hole of Nihilism. Nothing in life matters so why bother right? Including everything that brooks from similar ideologies. One will either kill themselves or dally in life's simple pleasures or have the resolve to deny it and live a fulfilled life regardless.
While the loss of life is regrettable I think it's just simple Natural Selection. No, it's the middle option that worries me the most. I think many people today haven't found their resolve, and that they think anything goes since there are, in fact, "no rules." The so-called period of decadence that societies go through. It is possible all these soft men and hard women all woefully lack any perceived self-awareness because they can't stand to look at themselves anymore. Even without them I still see dark, existential humor becoming more mainstream. Which is why I think /pol/ is right (again) that people, as an aggregate, need religion, but I cannot endorse that. I just hope people will find their own resolve and lead happy lives for the sake of it.
As for me personally, I like to think I'm working towards the third category, but I'm still very much in the second, and it's not a healthy place to be. Honestly, I'll probably end up straddling the line between both.
