War. War never changes.
Since the dawn of humankind, when our ancestors first discovered the killing power of rock and bone, blood has been spilled in the name of everything: from God to justice to simple, psychotic rage.
Did I ever tell ya about when Harvey Weinstein told me to make sure I shook his hand at a charity event, so I stopped in the mens room and pissed all over my hand, then went straight up to him on the receiving line? I think about that every time lil donnie opens up his KFC.
But it was not, as some had predicted, the end of the world. Instead, the apocalypse was simply the prologue to another bloody chapter of human history. For man had succeeded in destroying the world - but war, war never changes.

What began as a conflict over the transfer of consciousness from flesh to machines escalated into a war which has decimated a million worlds. The CORE and the ARM have all but exhausted the resources of a galaxy in their struggle for domination. Both sides now crippled beyond repair, the remnants of their armies continue to battle on ravaged planets, their hatred fueled by over four thousand years of total war. This is a fight to the death. For each side, the only acceptable outcome is the complete elimination of the other.

It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries The Emperor has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the Master of Mankind by the will of the gods, and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the Imperium for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day, so that he may never truly die.
Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the Warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will. Vast armies give battle in his name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst his soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces, the ever vigilant Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from aliens, heretics, mutants - and worse.
To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be re-learned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.

I do a lot of tabletop gaming. Whenever I have to voice a character who's not all-together human, and is just pretending to be, I try to use the G-Man voice. I don't think I've ever seen a character in a game or movie or show that does the "Pretending to be human, but not doing very well at it" shtick better then the G-Man. And there are some pretty tough competitors for that title.

It will be over soon, everything will be gone and this place will be forgotten. It's so bad really, because the whole thing started up so well.
Io is- I mean was, one of the most successfully planets. It was colonized rapidly, industries developed and people came everywhere to take advantage of the work opportunities here.
For years we all prospered, it was like living on a new frontier. And then, it all came to a halt. An accident in one of mines exposed some sort of virus.
Press covered: "POD has practically destroyed everything here".
Everyone's left Io now, or at least almost everyone. A few of us stayed behind. Some by choice and others because they had no choice. Our days are numbered now. We're all doomed, all except for one person. There is one ship left, one of us will get away to safety. POD is on final stages of its destructive cycle. Planet Io and everyone left on it will die.
To kill time we've using parts from abandoned factories and forgotten equipment to transform cars into superpowered vehicles and race them around the empty streets of Io. Todays races aren't like the others though, today each driver is racing for its life. The winner will take that one remaining place in the last ship. The others, well well…

No, I didn't get that at all. The first game is objectively superior from my vantage point, and the controls aren't even all that wonky when you consider they're just a slightly modified WASD. If that's still too much for one to handle, there's always the recent Windows port I suppose.

In his defense, he is under the impression that he can win him back. Pragmatically, being able to stop a civil war while also regaining the half of your army and the master general that turned on you is probably the best case scenario. The minute he realizes that he's too far gone he obliterates him without hesitation. Plus, if he knew that he was a perpetual death really isn't a big deal. Unfortunately, after Magnus broke the Golden Throne, he didn't even have time to die before he had to go back on it.
