Fuck off. I've been playing through GTA 3 these days, and it's a fucking blast still. The controls are slightly annoying after playing SA but you get used to it. And you get to know every little corner of the map intimately since it doesn't point everything out to you, which is cool.

Only GTA and GTA2 were good, then the series left arcade mayhem behind and went for full pozz gameplaywise and they also went full on storyfag with cinematics that went on forever. Vice City had a nice aesthetic but the rest aren't worth anyone's time.

It was hyperrealistic you could say (modern cars shouldn't handle this bad) but it was fun and cars really felt like they had power. V driving is just the worst, an in-between approach that is just completely unsatisfying. The old PS2 games had unrealistic arcade driving but it was fun.

Yeah, heavy vehicles in IV were slow but satisfying because you could feel the power. At one point, Online added the Brickade truck, which is unusually fast for a vehicle its class - I presume it's because the driving physics are so overly simplistic that literally the only way you could give a heavy truck more stopping power was to just add more speed to it.

Speaking of supercars, there's also way too many of them and not enough normal cars. Ghetto niggers in 2013 drive mint condition 1960s muscle cars and you find sparkling new 1950s Bel Airs everywhere alongside Astons while there's only a small handful of ordinary sedans and other everyday cars. And half of the supers and luxury cars in vanilla SP don't even normally appear in the game world and you have to buy them.

Vice City has the best soundtrack and the best overall atmosphere in the entire series. At the end of the day the only thing San Andreas had that Vice City didn't was a larger map and the ability to swim which GTA V would end up doing better down the line anyways. Vice City is the overall best GTA game ever made and GTA V is a distant second only because it was basically Rockstar extrapolating the pure gameplay of GTA, a large open world with driving mechanics and urban environments to explore, and cutting out all the fat. GTA V is the most shallow GTA as a result but it's also arguably the most "pure". GTA IV is overrated trash and San Andreas is pretty much equivalent to GTA V but with more shit to interact with like being able to drive trains and go to restaurants
