I recently got my hands on an SNES mini and playing some old games that are actually good reminded me of why I started gaming in the first place. I'm gonna use Hakchi2 and throw some extra ROMs on there, I've got room for about 100 more or so.
So now I'm looking for recommendations for SNES games, including fan translations for games unreleased in the west?

Theres all kinds of SNES games worth playing.
It would help if you said what type of games you like, but some of my favourites are kirby's dream land 3, metal max returns, super ninja boys, micky magical quest games, secret of evermore, soulblazer/illusion of gaia/terranigma, cybernator/assault suits valken, robotrek, and cyber knight 1/2.

Goddamnit, only one of my patched ROMs is working at all. Seiken Densetsu 3 runs but is covered in graphical errors, Tales of Phantasia black screens, and Live A Live I didn't bother with because for some reason the translator decided it would be fun to make and use a whole bunch of shitty fonts instead of just one properly readable one.

SFC Phantasia is interesting for what it could do at the time, but the PS1 remake is better on the gameplay end and has better English script quality to boot, compared to the liberties DeJap took prior.

I got Cyber Knight 2 patched fine but the first one has errors too.
I think the version of FLIPS I'm using is fucked. xdelta UI works much better but most of the translation files I'm finding are ips and not deltas.

Make sure your using a patch for the rom version your patching, and headerd, or non headered.
As an aside there was a /v/ recommended rom pack a long time ago in the share thread. Tjere was one for SNES games and one for fan translations and hacks, all were pre patched. If it's not around anymore I can dig it out and put it up somewhere.

You can use NSRT (romhacking.net has it) to detect and add/remove headers, or a hex editor if you know what you are doing. IPS will screw up the rom if the game does/doesn't have a header and the patch expects otherwise.

My memories of SNES were limited to Sqaresoft rpgs and Donkey Kong Country. Shadowrun sort of got my imagination running for that system and there was a Sega version that was nearly a different game. That new snes is pretty small, probably could fit up a butt.

It's not mine, it belongs to a family member. I had fun playing with it, then said I could put some other stuff on it for them (I'd seen the threads on here), so they let me borrow it and now I'm gonna play the shit out of it and hand it back when I'm done.
And there's plenty still in stores here in Australia so there's not much chance to scalp it even if I could sell it.
I'm also trying to avoid arcade ports since I already have those on my PC, except those asked for by the owner (hence some Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat stuff).
