So while looking at the new ubishit game I realized that it comes packaged with denuvo but the steam store page does not show this. Is steam now actively hiding the fact that games have denuvo packaged with them? Or is this the first instance?

Yeah apparently they still have it but removed it from the store page, while keeping it in the eula to try and trick people into paying for the game while knowing people boycott denuvo games. If its a new version of denuvo, older amd processors won't work with it either.

940ef8  No.15554178

Well report it or make a fuss about it and see if they change it

Depending on if they do or how slowly they do it (like they only change it after this news blows up) i wouldn't be surprised if they were working with Valve or paying them under the table for the privilege

374f2c  No.15554180

I'm pretty sure there have been cases where steam didn't list a game having Denuvo until a while after people noticed. They'll just claim they didn't know it had Denuvo, or forgot to list it, or that the devs didn't tell them, or some cop out like that.

I don't like valve or use steam, but they've pretty much built their business around doing as little work as possible and doing absolutely nothing to vet quality of games available on the platform. It's way more likely that they still just don't know and don't care than that this is an intentionally malicious act.

It's most likely that Ubisoft is trying to hide it and Valve, as usual, are lazy fucks with no employees actually monitoring or managing their primary money mill, other than two unpaid interns.

Trudeau and the liberal party put them to shame, not only killing our economy but selling the majority of our gold at bottom-rock prices before an upturn a while back. Suffice to say, everything is expensive in cuckland now. It's actually one of the reasons why canadians don't buy games anymore. Who the fuck is gonna pay 100 dollars for games made nowadays. They're all shit.

c1bd22  No.15554229

I think it's getting a bunch of the fast levelling shit the game has in it. They intentionally slowed down level and skill progression to try and sell gamers cheats that let you level up like you normally would . Like a pay to win game I suppose.

Though i'm far more interested in why steam is letting them lie to customers about denuvo being in the game.

There have been many games that hid the fact they had Denuvo before this. Sonic Mania being the one to rile people up the most. Devs don't have to say it has it on the store page so long as it's in the EULA. It's not just the latest Assassin's Creed.

There are many Dubongo games on Steam that don't have it listed on their store page. Here's a small list I compiled:

>Assassin's Creed Origins

>Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

>Dragon Ball FighterZ

>Dragon Quest Heroes 2

>Eagle Flight

>F1 2016

>F1 2017

>F1 2018

>Just Cause 3

>Monopoly Plus

>Nier: Automata

>PES 2018

>PES 2019

>Puyo Puyo Tetris

>Rise of the Tomb Raider

>Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet

>Train Sim World

>Transroad: USA

>Total War: Warhammer 2

>White Day: A Labyrinth Named School

It's not a recent thing, this has been going on for a long time. Some of these games never had a warning in the store page. Also, from checking the Steam forums apparently there's at least 2 cases where the games previously had the Denuvo warning on the store page but they were later removed, even though it wasn't removed from the game.

Would be nice if /v/ organized a collective fuss to these devs.

I watched a couple videos recently of a dude doing performance comparisons between games with and without Denuvo, which were flawed, but informative. In the games he was able to test, only Mass Effect Andromeda saw a significant impact in performance because of Denuvo. However the dude is also running an i7 and apparently Denuvo mainly affects the CPU. So I'd rather see these tests done with and i5 and i3 or their equivalents. I'm willing to bet there will be significant performance differences there.

However in a followup video he tested loading times. Since it seems Denuvo only pings during "non-critical" moments. Across the board there was moderate to severe increases in loading times.

DRM is only listed at the behest of the publisher/developer, and isn't a requirement. Example of this is a lot of Ubisoft games, and Alone in the Dark. Alone in the Dark does not mention that it includes Securom. But it does. This is and always has been policy on Steam, Steam does not require a publisher to list third-party DRM. This is why there are curators like "Games That Hate You." It's generally accepted that a publisher/developer SHOULD list the DRM, but they do not have to.

Steam isn’t third party. It’s a service by Valve making it first party.

Steam are third party to the developer/publisher and the hardware manufacturer though. Their DRM might be less intrusive but it's still DRM introduced by an outside company. These are fourth party, is such a concept exists.

The Steamstub protection, which is optional (and lots of devs don't use it), is DRM.
