So while looking at the new ubishit game I realized that it comes packaged with denuvo but the steam store page does not show this. Is steam now actively hiding the fact that games have denuvo packaged with them? Or is this the first instance?
fd9980 No.15554176
Yeah apparently they still have it but removed it from the store page, while keeping it in the eula to try and trick people into paying for the game while knowing people boycott denuvo games. If its a new version of denuvo, older amd processors won't work with it either.
940ef8 No.15554178
Well report it or make a fuss about it and see if they change it
Depending on if they do or how slowly they do it (like they only change it after this news blows up) i wouldn't be surprised if they were working with Valve or paying them under the table for the privilege

I'm pretty sure there have been cases where steam didn't list a game having Denuvo until a while after people noticed. They'll just claim they didn't know it had Denuvo, or forgot to list it, or that the devs didn't tell them, or some cop out like that.

I don't like valve or use steam, but they've pretty much built their business around doing as little work as possible and doing absolutely nothing to vet quality of games available on the platform. It's way more likely that they still just don't know and don't care than that this is an intentionally malicious act.
It's most likely that Ubisoft is trying to hide it and Valve, as usual, are lazy fucks with no employees actually monitoring or managing their primary money mill, other than two unpaid interns.

I watched a couple videos recently of a dude doing performance comparisons between games with and without Denuvo, which were flawed, but informative. In the games he was able to test, only Mass Effect Andromeda saw a significant impact in performance because of Denuvo. However the dude is also running an i7 and apparently Denuvo mainly affects the CPU. So I'd rather see these tests done with and i5 and i3 or their equivalents. I'm willing to bet there will be significant performance differences there.
However in a followup video he tested loading times. Since it seems Denuvo only pings during "non-critical" moments. Across the board there was moderate to severe increases in loading times.

DRM is only listed at the behest of the publisher/developer, and isn't a requirement. Example of this is a lot of Ubisoft games, and Alone in the Dark. Alone in the Dark does not mention that it includes Securom. But it does. This is and always has been policy on Steam, Steam does not require a publisher to list third-party DRM. This is why there are curators like "Games That Hate You." It's generally accepted that a publisher/developer SHOULD list the DRM, but they do not have to.
