>Have at least 2 or 3 different games I want to play over a week

>Instead keep playing the same game I've been playing for over two weeks

>Other games seem unappealing

Does anyone else have this problem? How do you break out of it?

I'm not even talking about inherently addictive games, this will happen to me with any game that isn't shallow

bc7aea  No.15554014

If you're having fun with the one you're playing what's the issue? Some games are made to be rewarding if you spend time digging into them.

This. Don't force yourself to play a game you aren't interested in. Just enjoy what you're doing until the appeal wears off. Vidya should never be compulsory.

There's so many games to go through, and so much to say about a lot of them. Buying them but not playing them feels like hallucinating I went to the moon and saw the earth.

>>15554029

This is usually what happens, but sometimes I get so into a game that I neglect things I am interested in.

Right now I'm playing a lot of UNIST and I can't stop picking at everything going on in there. Even if I'm just pushing at the skill ceiling, I find myself pushing hard at it. I know I'd enjoy it more if I took an hour break, played something like VC4 or MM11, and then played some more UNIST, but when I think about putting down the stick I feel guilty that I'd not be playing UNIST right then.

Outdated meme, lad.

If you want to publicly announce being from cuckchan then at least post soyjack or boomer images.

I'm sure most anons have been there. It usually ends up consuming your life until you burn out on the game or finish it. I can't count the amount of times I've wasted entire weeks away finishing a good game and just sitting in my chair for a couple days feeling lost when its over.

I'm at least thankful I've never had a backlog, or I'd never be away from that prison.

Memes tend to be a reflection of the people who use them. Tell me of a single worthwhile boomer or soyjack poster you've seen in the past months.

Highly replayable games just give you an easy way to pass the time. I spend most of my free time watching videos on one monitor while playing/replaying a repetitive game on my main monitor. This is only because I find it easier than investing time, patience and effort in a new game.

Recently I’ve been forcing myself to finish one game before jumping to the next and have been having a lot of fun knocking off games on the backlog while writing down the ones I’ll return to so I don’t forget. It’s been the most enjoyable experience I’ve had with vidya in years. Went through the Mega Man series, Mario RPG series, and am working on Castlevania now with Silent Hill around the corner for October.

also, I find having a show on in the background really helps for some reason. I alternate between MST3K and Smallville.

this is why I try to stick to story-based vidya, that way there's always an ending so you can't just keep on playing it until the end of the universe

whenever I come across something that interests me, I add it to the pile

when I finish a game I sometimes have to force myself to go with the next item on the list as opposed to whatever just caught my eye, but I almost always end up enjoying it, and if I hate it absolutely I'll dump it and maybe revisit it later if it's not completely beyond redemption

there's a bit of forcing involved, but it's only to the point where you KNOW you won't like something

68ece6  No.15554347

Finish it, then play others.

1c144f  No.15554364

Keep playing that same game. You're doing it for a reason, even if unconsciously. When the time comes for you to play the other games you'll know it. Just enjoy the moment.

I'm torn between UNIST and BB:Tag right now. Fighting game fag. Gitting gud is a right journey and it's always rewarding. When you keep finding people better than you, though, you recognise it's not enough, and you got to level up your game until you can lose a little less, and then until you can beat them

Playing is just never enough. Nor is winning. You have to win against really tough opponents, consistently, against everyone you go up against. And then do it again tomorrow to prove to yourself that it wasn't a fluke. Then all of a sudden you realise you still haven't gotten past the prologue of Sleeping Dogs yet

>just two weeks

>he hasn't been playing the same games over and over for years

say what you will but I'm fairly sure I played and completed mgs 1, 2 and 3 well over 50 times each now. I've gotten to the point I know the games so well that I'm trying all sorts of self imposed challenges. what's weird is I still have fun, well maybe not like the very first time but I still get enjoyment from those games, which makes me wonder: what's gonna happen when I finally stop and say "ok I think I've had enough of this". thinking one day I won't get a kick from it kinda depresses me.

I have that problem sometimes OP. Right now there is a couple games I want to play through but I end up just playing breath of the wild or monster hunter GU. Monster hunter is ok, because I actually like it, but botw isn't even fun. I dont know why I'm even playing it. Eventually it goes away, but it's kind of annoying getting into a slump from time to time.

Sometimes I force it. Sometimes I don't. Do it at your own pace anon, as long as you're having fun then everything is fine.

Speaking of forcing yourself to play video games

0: Runescape / vscape

2: Skyrim: The modded to hell pornographic comedy adventure

3: Phantasy Star Online: Episode 3

4: Vanquish

5: Freedom Fighters

6: Shadow Tower: Abyss

7: Custom Robo: Arena

8: Magical Vacation

9: Echo Night

You shouldn't have to force yourself to finish a game if you don't want to. That said, if you do want to finish a game but are getting distracted a lot, it might help to keep a list of games or something. Cross off each game as you finish them and only then move on to a new one.

It's called self-control, faggot.
