>Pre-Mission planning just as, if not more important than the execution itself
>Squad-based and cooperative
>No room for mistakes, 1 or 2 bullets = dead or severely crippled
>Well designed maps and levels allow for endless replayability and different approaches
>Immersive ambience and intensity putting you on the edge of your seat as you slice the pie
>Great satisfaction when you complete a mission flawlessly without casualties
These days it seems like there's only two ends of the extremes left. Casual cucked CoD/BF/CS cashgrabs aimed for the lowest common denominator who is easily entertained by instant gratification and shitty Hollywood action. Or a hardcore military simulator like ArmA/OFP where movement is clunky and you spend 95% doing mundane boring shit because that's how it is in real life.
Tactical shooters were in the perfect sweet spot in terms of military shooters. Realistic without going full autismo, but still hard and unforgiving so you can't just turn your brain off.
