I've been playing too many somber games lately, I want something more uplifting. Something either lovey-dovey, sweet, or cringe-inducingly pure. It doesn't need to be happy the whole time - there can be a bit of unhappiness, drama, or even depression, just as long as it all ends happily ever after. If you want some examples, I'd say something like Fortune Summoners or….that's it. I really can't think of any games that have truly happy endings. I can think of many games with moments of happiness, but none of these moments, hence the name, ever last.
Pic not necessarily related.

PSP if emulating or 3DS. 3DS has most content followed by PSP.

Ghost Trick is a bit intense at times but really emotionally griping and a lot of fun. I started it one night with the intention of giving it an hour of play and stayed up 10 hours to finish it. Plenty of moments are happy.
Not spoiling the end though.

>Trails in the Sky FC and SC.
FC is about setting up the two main character’s relationship over the course of the game. Having Estelle see Joshua as her adoptive little brother to the man she wants to spend the rest of her life with is great but the ending is a pile of melancholic sadness. SC places a lovely bow on their relationship that I won’t go into any detail for the people who want to play the games for themselves.
>Trails in the Sky 3rd
all about getting a happy ending for the protag of it. mainly him forgiving himself for something he did when he was younger
>Trails of Cold Steel series
All about seeing a teenager to young adult become battered, bruised and broken over the course of 4 games before he can finally feel freedom and smile
The cool part about these games is that all of the moments when the characters can finally break down and cry in happiness or smile a genuine smile feels very earned.

Guacamelee maybe? It's a wacky trip through a wacky world. You have to find the six secret stones to get the happy ending though.

Sanitarium has some of that stuff, and it's like the only game that made me cry ever I can suggest it. The emotional stuff all happen early in the game, IIRC like first 6 chapters so you don't even have to finish it

I played that game, too. How did it make you cry, and when? The game was upbeat and the final boss was groovy to fight, but how in the world was it enough to bring you to tears?

I don't know if they count, but they are more light-weight and do have happy ending, plus they are very goo jrpgs. The first one is about going on a grand adventure, to explore the world ending in a save the world plot, but that's mostly disc 2 and the second is a love-themed JRPG with not one, but three main couples(the main cast being composed of three girls and three boys, and no love triangles whatsoever), plus other couples throughout the story.

Oh with Grandia 1, you can easily emulate on PSX, though I heard the Saturn version is better, but I don't know if it's in English, they are also going to port the game to PC, but I don't know when that will be, or how good it will be, since the main characters are 2d sprites.
With Lunar 1, you have two versions, the Sega Master system, which is darker and the PSX/Saturn versions that are more light-weight. Avoid the PSP/GBA versions. Heard Lunar 2 is just as good, haven't had the chance to play it. Grandia 2 is also a great game, but is a bit darker.
