So i'm replaying System Shock 2 for the first time since i played it at release and i am conflicted.
On one hand having the 90's/2000's Cyberpunk music thumping away really amps you up for the combat sections.
On the other turning off music and walking through corridors littered with dead bodies and signs of gunfire, hearing only the electronic thrum of machinery and the moaning wails of some fleshy monstrosity but you can't tell from which direction with some headphones on is great.
Do you ever find you turn off music -even music you like- to enjoy the experience more?
I ended up doing it in stuff like Fallout as well, music not the radio mind you, and it seems like the older i get the more i take immersion over 'a cinematic experience' anyday of the week. What about you?
