Here's a big problem, OP. Your body doesn't work like that. You can't sleep four hours one night and ten hours the next night and think you averaged out to seven hours per night. All you're doing is fucking up your sleep schedule by not going to bed and getting up at the same time every single day. Then you'll be tired EVERY day.

Also, do errands the same days you work. Instead of going home after your shift, go to the grocery and buy the shit you need, then go home. Yeah, don't tell me you work nights; there are manifold stores these days open 24/7. Yeah, I know all you want to do is go home and rest and the idea of more of what amounts to work sounds like bullshit, but it's SO time efficient to do this. You're already in your car, already got your shoes on and your shopping bags, are already completely awake and ready to do shit. Plus, instead of lollygagging at the store, you REALLY want to get it done so you'll rush to get it finished as fast as possible.

Trust me; on a weekend going to the store you get up, faff about because you really don't want to go shopping, get your shit together, get to the car and drive to the store all slow, walk around trying to figure out what to buy, and maybe two hours after you started you're home again with your stuff. But if you do it right after work, you're in and out of that store and home again inside a half-hour, grabbing shit off the shelves like you're on Supermarket Sweep (really showing my age with THAT reference…). It's like fucking magic, try it.

Also, make meals in large batches. Soups/stews can be portioned into a week's worth of meals and stored or frozen. Whether you're making enough white rice for one meal or ten takes the same amount of time.

Above all, try to divide your weekend in half. If you still have shit you need to do, do it all on one of those days, and then save the other day for nothing but recreation. Maybe you'll only be able to play vidya on Sundays from now on, but that's better than nothing, right?

OP, you've got a tough gig ahead of you but I know how you feel. I commute 45 minutes either way to my job and I often only have about 4 hours left once I get back from work to do what I want.

If you're on public transport then reading in the morning is a good way to get your brain working, and and it's not like you'll run out of books to read in the long run. But I've found that you kind of have to push yourself to play when you get back from work, but it is usually worth it.

Since I started at a new job in July that has that further commute, I've tried to make sure that I get in a couple of hours of game time for at least two nights a week (including weekends but that's hard since I only moved house recently too). But as long as it's something, anything, I push myself to it. And for this past week I've been off work with a wonderful combination of the flu and migraines so i have been able to dig into KOTOR 2 and get BOTW working on my pc. .

TL;DR Don't aim or expect to game every night. Get a couple of hours in for twice a week or so, and then you can (hopefully) balance everything else around it.

After i had kids i didn't really feel like playing vidya anymore. Spending time with the wife and kids is much more rewarding.

Why do you still live with your parents?

I play games on the bus (my ride's about two hours long to get to college but only an hour to get to work) and when I get home I usually play games for an hour or two if I don't have too much work to do when I'm at home.

Cooking, I use a slow cooker, rice cooker, and oven for most of my meals. "Set it and forget it" is practically my life's motto. Spend ten minutes cutting meat and vegetables, throw it in the slow cooker, and either leave it on while I'm at work or leave it on overnight. A week's worth of stew, chili, curry, whatever and it only took ten minutes of prep time. Even Batman would be proud.

If you're feeling too drained to play video games, consider playing a more mellowed out game. If you haven't given a lot of RPGs a fair shake, now's the perfect opportunity to do so. Alternatively, play a game that's so intense you can't help but turn it off after an hour. Tough Doom Wads, shmups, arcade games, those types.

Obviously, it helps to have other hobbies too. Consider watching some anime or a TV show, reading a book or a manga or even just browsing a hobby forum. You like cooking, so maybe dedicate a meal to cooking with something you've never cooked with before. Acorn Squash was really cheap in my area so I dedicated a meal to pork and squash soup. Protip: Cut the skin off of the squash before you cook it.

I already have a meaningful job, am physically fit, and take time to be introspective. This is where my time goes and this is what I do. I have transcended above pleasures, I sustain productivity without the need for fuel or reward.

Get a fucking creative hobby, anon, holy shit. It's literally THE option to solve your problem, and it's completely free. Write a story, draw a picture, make a mod, sculpt a fucking statue, just do something creative that takes effort and skill and get better at it. The literally only thing this requires is mustering the will to keep at it after the initial euphoria wears off, and even that gets easier if you turn it into a routine that you don't skip. The feeling I got whenever I did what I set out to do for the day (I wrote stories) was a dozen times better than what you get after coming home from work, and whenever I actually managed to exceed my own expectations and do more or get a bout of inspiration and write down a particularly good idea, it was enough to put me into a good mood for a whole day, or even two.

You'll get your feeling of accomplishment, you'll educate yourself so that you're actually interesting (and have something other than vidya to talk about with girls), and you'll learn a new skill that, if you keep at it, can become something to generate an income eventually.

I'm sure there must have been something in your life that you liked doing or that you wanted to do. Maybe you wanted to be a singer, maybe you loved reading, maybe you envy all those furry smut artists on patreon, but there has to be something you'd want to do. So go ahead and fucking do it. Your alternative is being depressed with a shitty job and no goal in life, until you're old and filled with regrets over how you wish you did something other than just survive from day to day back when you were still young (unless you kill yourself first, lol)

Italy. After years of neetdom I finally managed to land a job in a small television thanks to a new director they put in charge who was a complete retard (but was the son of a close friend of the owner). I started "part time" working 5 hours a day/6 days a week for 300€/mo I got as "expense reimbursement". After 4 months of this, they finally proposed a contract, going by what was on paper I was supposed to work "on call" up to 4 days a month for 500€/mo. Instead I worked full time 6 days a week, and since we were a skeleton crew, there was no space for festivities or vacations.

When we had the elections we had to work from sunday at 4 pm, pulling an all-nighter, then resume the normal turn the day after for a nice 24 hours continuous (and unpaid) workday. Sometimes they'd also ask for extra work to be done after hours or on Sundays, and that was all on your expense, and if you dared complain, they'd let you know they had kids waiting in line for your place.

That's apparently how a good portion of the jobs market functions in here. Force people to accept shit contracts so you don't have to pay taxes on them, or hire them as part timers but make them work full time.
