What are some games that you can leave to play themselves? Preferably ones with some customization where we can pit the autism of various anons against each other to see which ones spontaneously come out on top thanks to behind the scene computerized dice rolling? 8cup and 8chanmania have gotten me more interesting in letting CPUs beat themselves to death for our entertainment.

You can set up a Quake server and populate it with bots and it'll go through matches and rotate maps like it would normally. I think there were instructions on how to do this on Steam guides.

There was also that game that came out some years ago where you can create customized large scale battles between different enemies. I'm sure someone here remembers what it was called.

f283aa  No.15523739

Used to do this with Worms: Armageddon. You had to carefully adjust settings and weapons because a lot of the items were ones that the CPU was basically incapable of using correctly or accurately. Although, there's something to be said of them chucking Holy Hand Grenades all over the map and blowing up everything EXCEPT the enemy worms. Anything with fire was always fun, because they would inevitably fail to take into account how the fire would spread with the wind, often hitting themselves with it.

I've done this on a few occasions. Set a party of CPUs on 9 and just let them go for a while. It's pretty entertaining as an idle thing to watch when you and your friends are bored. Could spice it up with some betting and allowing people to pick their favorite characters to represent them. Maybe not something to watch with a larger crowd.

What I'd really dig would be a dungeon crawling adventure game where you could create a party of AI adventurers and run them through a meatgrinder dungeon.

There was some game where you designed robots and they'd fight each other, some anon mentioned it in a thread some days ago. Sometimes I let CK2 run in observer mode to see what happens, while I do something else on the other monitor.

Most of the time it devolves into a typical clusterfuck of independent duchies, but sometimes a leader can hold together his realm surprisingly well

Even the clusterfucks can be interesting in just where things end up. This one was neat, with a Christian Duchy of Cairo ending up holding part of Italy, a Kingdom of Poland that held only a single Scottish county, a stronk pagan Lithuania, and so on.

The game is more entertaining as a spectacle, and there are lots of ways to win that aren't just 'I beat the other guy on the ground'.

Old conceptual art by Yoshiaki Inagaki, who for whatever reason was canned from or left the project (pretty sure he joined Tri-ace when a notable amount of WolfTeam got mad at Namco for how they were handling things on Phantasia). I think at that point he was just having fun with names that hadn't been settled on, but his other artwork for the game still uses those outfits and visual style. They were all redone when Fujishima was brought in; he kept the generals, but there's a definite shift in particulars and style.

Several of the Armored Core games, including one that was centered around the idea. I think they are Silent Line, Formula Front and Verdict Day. Silent Line has you "train" the AI, I never played Formula Front, and Verdict Day's is you can add tactics and upgrade them but AI building in that game is a massive cash sink. Silent Line has an Arena mode for that, and VD you can send the AI out on missions for you in multiplayer and just act as a "commander."

<but… only if you don't treat them like special snowflakes, so as long as you are "nice" to the people you expect to fight to the death they will be loyal to you next to indefinitely (or at least way longer than their life expectancy) and it usually requires that you "fuck up" a event question, and not be progressive enough with how you handle your slaves.

<cant organize your slaves and their stats are never really well presented in the menu and it can be hard to tell how strong opposing gladiators are as the format for how stats are presented changes between your training yard and the match screen.

cant upgrade your training yard to have specialized training slots, upgrades stack on top of eachother and are added from the left to the right top to bottom. so hope you have a nice time haveing one fully upgraded slot that trains everything a little better but only one is trained at a time anyway so fuck you

<sometimes you get matched up against absolute monsters that make the opt in boss fights look like jokes, would not be bad but losses are absolutely crushing and getting back chump change from the crowd and a consolation prize is almost insulting.

<equipment is a nightmare to manage and you biggest expense in the game baring late game employees, you cant salvage from your dead or the opponents dead so a loss is a huge loss and a victory is rather, unrewarding.
