I really think the series plateaued at Gen 3. Everything afterward has felt more or less gimmicky, and didnt have a lot of creativity. XY are also the mark of the series getting much easier. The lateat games offer little in the way of challenge or difficulty, unless selfimposed. I think this can be attributed to the steady increase in casualization of big budget games in the west. Yeah, its buzzword as fuck to say so, but the timing is right, and the people that play AAA garbage are also playing the newer pokemon games. Sadly, because it still sells on name alone, we wont see true improvement in the pokemon series for quite some time.

Colosseum sucked dick and was clearly a prototype for XD: Gayle of Randumb. It's a much better game overall in my opinion. I also liked the new music tracks they used for these games.

What are you talking about nigger? Colosseum didn't have anything remorely similar to the same structure. Stadium was good because it pushed the Pokemon battle strategy to the limit, forcing you to take good-but-not-perfect Pokemon and strategize with them while your opponent has an equal pool to choose from (except when they don't as AI because it makes the game harder). It was very focused on providing engaging battles and it succeeded. XD and Colosseum are story based.

Battle Sims in Gale of Darkness were the shit. A game with slightly more difficulty and Double Battles all the time is a nice upgrade from the usual nothing, but specifically designed challenges are on a whole other level. It's odd that the closest thing to this in any other Pokemon game was Pokestar Studios from B2W2.

I remember never finishing Colosseum. Had to return it to BlockBuster before I could. I owned XD and was hyped to play it ever since the demo at Wal-Mart. I had fun with it and defeated the game with an Umbreon, Mightyena, and Houndoom. Yes, with a team of Dark-type dogs, the game was super easy. Also, having an Eevee starter for once was a nice change of pace from the usual Fire/Water/Grass starters. Although, I still think it's bullshit that Moon Dust and Sun Dust can make Eevee evolve into Umbreon/Espeon. Only for those items to never be introduced outside of the GameCube games. As well as how you can't transfer your Shadow Lugia to the GBA games, unpurified.
