Octopath is only good for the first couple hours until you realize that none of the characters really have any interaction between each other. There are “skits” that have a couple of characters talking to each other but they’re really basic. Their stories aren’t connected in any capacity. The gameplay is repetitive even by JRPG standards. The only thing it has going for it is the art.

I don't give a shit about exclusives. What's the functional difference for me between an exclusive on the Switch and a multiplat that is also on another system that I don't have? I don't give a shit if Bayonetta is an exclusive because I don't have a Wii U or XBox 360 and I don't want to buy them. I don't care if Okami is an exclusive because I haven't played it before.
If anything, exclusives are a bad thing. It's an excuse for a sub-par system to force you to buy it by giving you no choice other than forgoing the game entirely. A good system should succeed on its own objective merits, not by locking games in.
For me, the Switch does everything I need it to do, the controllers are decent and have a long-enough battery life, I can pull it out of the cradle and play it when somebody else is using the TV, and it has no hard disadvantages that have hit me yet other than paid online (which is legitimately fucking bullshit, but it's not like I can avoid that with another console anyway, so I just don't play online anymore).

Splatoon 2 was about the only game worth actually getting a Switch for, and it's effectively offline only now. Maybe Mario Galaxy? Dunno, haven't really been interested in a Mario game since Paper Mario TTYD if that even counts as a Mario game and not just some fun side-project. Zelda:BotW has some solid mechanical foundations, but shits the bed in so many other ways that it's not really worth it and it's easily one of the worst Zelda games ever made. And since we're only about 3 games in and already talking about fucking WiiU ports making the Switch worth a purchase, Bayonetta 2 and MK8 are alright, but you can play those via CEMU.
Honestly, there's just not much on it, and between it's terrible UI functionality and laughable "online" mode (even ignoring that you now have to pay for it) - it's really about the worst console choice you could make right now. The only saving grace is that if you can get a generation 1 model, then it's only a matter of time before it overtakes the PSVita as the prime portable emulation machine. That's the only reason why I got mine (and Splatoon). For now, it's just collecting dust while I wait for more robust CFW and homebrew/piracy.

For example, BoTW: It is not a switch exclusive, nor is it even a Wii U exclusive because emulation exists! Therefore for my unique situation there is no reason for me to purchase a switch to play this game, right?
