I'm not defending the what happens in the game, but I call bullshit. Rockstar has used almost the same basic control scheme since GTA IV and are pretty good about not putting the interaction buttons next to the attack button (they typically use the d-pad for interactions). Considering that you need to use a specific button to select your weapon and/or un-holster it first before you can even fire it, even if he did hit the attack button by mistake, at most he would melee attack the dog, not shoot it. He either did it on purpose to "see what would happen" or he's even more retarded at playing games than previously thought.

I was watching some new gameplay discussion videos today and the guys said that they shot some random guy and then a witness notification thing popped up on the screen letting them know that someone had seen what they did. They turned around and found the witness and ran up to her and she took off. They fired a round in the air near her which made her stop in her tracks. THen they entered the dialogue menu and had various options on how to deal with it. They threatened her once and she promised not to tell the police, but they said they could tell her in her voice that she was just saying what needed to be said to get out of the situation. After they let her go she ran off and a little while later a notification came up saying the police had been alerted. They asked the R* employee what they could've done differently and the employee said they could've either roughed her up a bit after threatening her or just killed her and they wouldn't have gotten the police on them but it would've affected their good/evil stats. This situation could've played out any number of ways with any number of different NPCs since they all have unique personalities, and that cockstar actually even hired a thousand fucking voice actors in total for this game just to make all the NPCs to be completely unique(hence one of the big reasons for the 100+ gig day one pre-patch file size.)
So to respond to your OP, no, you're completely wrong about everything and this game is nothing like GTA 5.

That's one of the things I'm most worried about. The map has all of RDR1's map in it, pluss a whole new part that's even bigger than the first game's, so getting from point a to point b could take awhile. But I've seen a couple different places say that you can fast travel to places from your camp, so that'd help. That's honestly the only downside to having an enormous map though.

This is the biggest problem I'm having with the game is hearing about the ridiculous micromanagement you have to do. If you get muddy it will ruin your guns etc. you have to do X Y and Z constantly to keep these fucks happy so you don't get locked out of in game content. It seems like hunting will be more of a bitch than the other game. Honestly it was still a bitch in RDR even after you figure out that you can dismount over a dead body and instantly skin the animal but still if you shot a pack of small game it would take a while. I hate this shit in these games and just wish it would go away. Judging from the detail video I see things like 1. Yea keep the cool small detail things like dialogue and character appearances changing over time 2. get rid of the annoying micromanagement shit or make it literally a micro sim let me just push buttons and shit not have to run around to micro a fucking settlement to keep my game normal.

Me too. Like how after you kill an animal it won't just stay on your horse indefinitely until you get somewhere to sell it. If you take too long to do so the animal starts to rot, or how NPCs will remember you if you kill one of their family members and sometimes will even hunt you down. Shit like that adds to the "immersion," but can get really annoying really fast when you're just trying to finish the story.
I don't know, in all honesty I'm pretty fucking hyped for it, and I haven't been hyped for anything in years now. But It seems like the kind of game where you're gonna have to take a more laid back approach to everything or else you're gonna get really frustrated really quick. At least when it comes to going for completion. Once you're done with everything stuff like that would just make single player worth continuing to play though.
