Everything we've seen so far from both Nero and Dante indicates that it's a straight continuation of DMC4 in terms of gameplay, so I wouldn't worry about it on that front. Although I guess we still have to see what V plays like.

Dante Hasn't been the sole main Character since DMC1,
DMC 2 was about far more about Lucia then Dante, and DMC 3 was just as much about Vergil and Lady as it was about Dante.
There are two reasons for having More main characters show up
1. is the fact that Dante's main motivator in life was avenging his mother's Murder, which he does in DMC1 he defeated Mundus, he has nothing else tor really do after that besides just Hunt demons as a job.
and 2. more main characters, means more playable characters which is always a good thing no matter how you slice it.

The shotgun stinger is now actually different for once and allows you to slide, not to mention that you can dodge cancel out of it, seems like a great tool for mobility now.
Enemies look fun to fight thankfully unlike in DMC4, I really hate that they went with the RE engine for the realistic look, but in gameplay and style the game is shaping up to be the DMC4 we never got.
The only good thing about the RE engine is that it's decently optimized, in that regard I guess that maybe it was for the best in order to allow the game to reach 60fps on consoles, MHW used MT framework and that didn't work well for consoles, but somehow I think that was the MH teams fault.
I'm conflicted on this, but at least the game is shaping up to have tons of depth.

To be fair on them, yeah. Yet, most people still equate those two things. Design would be, let's say, Lady with a buzzcut and wearing some godawful orange and blue costume. Trish's costume and hair style is almost unchanged and Lady's, while mostly different - as it was from 3 to 4 - doesn't radically change her looks. Again, prettier faces and curvier figures and these two would be golden.

Eh from my experience Capcom is weird about microtransactions, it's usually shit that not even worth getting.
DMC4SE let you buy Red orbs and proud souls but at the same time they also doubled the rate at which you got orbs and souls.
Resident Evil Revelations 2 let you buy lives in raid mode but you also got plenty from just beating missions, you could also buy more room to hold more weapons and shit in you load out menu but you going to be selling all you low level crap constantly and replacing it with high level crap, so you don't need more then 1 slot pre-weapon type.
RE7 has Coins that when there your inventory they give you buffs depending on the coin, but I just beat the game and it was easy enough that they don't seem worth it at all.
I haven't come across anything that seems like your handicapped unless you buy the microtransactions, it's all things to trick people who don't know or care about what there buying when they grab all the DLC when buying the game.

It usually took around 2 to 3 playthoughs of a DMC game to buy all the upgrades anyway, so I personally don't think it this game is going to be all that different. I'm just hoping there isn't an option to buy the Super costumes like in DMC4SE, since that doesn't help anyone get better at the game, that just takes away the reward for beating DMD.

I'm almost confident this game will sell just fine.
Devil Trigger was on the top charts on Itunes for over a month, and the song on youtube alone has over 11M views.
That's a lot exposure for a DMC game, plus with how they've been handling marketing with the whole "DMC is back!" is an excellent PR angle because in the eyes of the average consumer it makes them think this is the next big hardcore game that every real "gamer" is in on, and they'll buy it just for that.
It might end up being the best selling DMC game of all time, with how much exposition it's been getting and even how much the media is reporting on it, it's almost guaranteed, that is if people don't forget about it until March, if they were to release it in the fall, then I would honestly bet my car on this.
Don't feel sorry for Itsuno as he'll do fine and probably will go on to make Dragons Dogma 2, if DMC5 does really well then capcom will likely give him a complete budget for it since in this case DMC5 worked out.
Also I find this shit out on IGN jp website through a gameplay video on youtube from them, you can have 4 weapons and 4 guns equipped at a time.
This sounds a bit much, but given how the order is fully customizable it shouldn't be much of an issue.
You can also save it in presets, so more weapons and guns for Dante are pretty much confirmed.
