It would need to get a specialized version of transform, then, since transform erases your stat changes and gives you whatever the opponent had. If they made it sort of like spectral thief, where it adds the opps stat changes to yours, but unlike that move didn't steal them, it could be interesting. It would also work well as a counter to ditto's current niche, since literally no one manually uses transform on ditto now that impostor exists and it can auto-transform. They could alternatively give it something similar to Power Construct, and make it automatically transform after its HP reaches a certain point, giving it a chance to toss out some statuses or boost.

This is also only half the reason megas are retarded though, the entire way they work in-game is retarded
For big boy power ups to feel as important as they're supposed to be, they can't just be activated at no cost whenever you feel like it, but megas are, meaning that depending on the mega, they're either 100% mandatory to throw out on the first turn, or they're just another minor strategic option
It's like DBZ, once characters could just go super sand at will, Toriyama realized that took all the tension out of the story and had to keep adding more and more nonsensical tiers for them to break through, it's dumb
