Infantry Bow+Rampart Shield. Utility items don't matter too much, just whatever gives the most damage reduction. Double ammo and combo+sadism for mutations assuming I can get the right affix for Sadism to be useful.

Infantry Bow is fucking OP. Just use it as if it were a melee weapon, it does more DPS than any melee weapon and can optionally hit enemies at longer ranges or odd angles. The only downside is it doesn't cleave, so a couple enemy types that swarm you can be annoying.

Assassins dagger/shovel/torch and some good shield. Cluster nades with fire synergy can clear whole rooms, so they're fun.

btw cursed chests are easy if you just leave some easy enemies alive throughout the level. Homunculus rune enables cheese as well. Just go somewhere safe and let the blob do the work, only your body is vulnerable.

This is a really good game. The devs seem ok and I really enjoyed playing my pirated version. Gonna buy once my paycheck hits. I marathoned it for 12 hours and beat hand of the king with explosive crossbow and wolf traps.

The fact that /v/ isn't whining about it and it's not all over the front page is proof enough that it's good. Seriously what a fun experience. I do wish devs had more weapons and/or ways to add consistency to playthroughs. I would love to use phaser and a big axe.

after i unlocked the "pick a shop" option i rarely take cursed chests unless im absolutely desperate for a new weapon or feeling really cocky. unlocking shop features is a real game changer.

my favorite setups usually involve stacking dots. its not often that a game lets you have fun with dots. the sadism mutation gets a big thumbs up from me.

i used to wonder why grenades tended to have such high cooldowns until i realized they tended to be red.

i wonder if it locks down the tentacles in the squid fight. i know wolf traps do and it makes the fight end so much sooner. great for those timed doors. i always try to hold on to any wolf traps i see if im going through the sewers.

i almost never think to use it because i hate the l3 and r3 buttons and theres nothing better to remap it to, but i bet its pretty useful against elites since theyre not immune to crowd control. although, ive never been able to hit them past their minions when im actually desperate to land it on them. and whenever im not, i just deal with them the normal way.

played the game for a couple of hours, I am still new to that, but it looks fun and I really don't get why do people hate it. Maybe it's because the game is kinda popular, but hating something for the sake of seeing it on media is kind of a cuckchan thing to do.

I also level up my bow stuff first, I try to make purple thing leveled up the most. Is it worth spending over bow/archer class or should I just focus on melees?

as long as youre not running out of ammo i dont see why pure bow wouldnt work. you might not even have to spend a mutation on extra ammo if you can roll an an arrow returning enchantment on a special weapon, though it seems pretty rare so i wouldnt count on it if money is tight.

and some ranged weapons dont even use ammo.

Worth noting, parrying an attack returns all the ammo stuck in that enemy immediately. That's one of the reasons infantry bow+shield is so powerful. Infantry bow is RED, which gives it the most damage boosts possible. I've had it over 6000 damage per shot before.

Also: Pyrotechnics best weapon in the game. No Ammo, no melee, easy as fuck to synergize with and to set up crits.
