Little Dragon Cafe
Yasuhiro Wada (Harvest Moon creator) made a new IP that is about running a cafe. The unique thing about this game is that it's not about money and has no currency. The game is mostly about scavenging the outdoors with a pet dragon to gather ingredients to expand the menu of your cafe. You raise your dragon which helps you gather more materials, and get to new areas. You manage the employees of your cafe which helps improve the customer's experience and your cafe's reputation. Your ultimate goal is running the family cafe with your sister while your mother is sick and making it into the best cafe it can possibly be.
The art style is a storybook that reminds me of a 3D Yoshi's Island. I'll probably pick it up when it inevitably drops in price.

thats why i made a thread. the reviews were fucking retarded. the IGN guy couldnt handle simple platforming, described the basic rhythm minigame as very challenging, and kept dying trying to get his dragon to kill enemies for him.
the other reviews were picking apart its lighthearted story, or complained about how it took long to beat because the objectives arent clear… in an open ended exploration game.
its currently the price of a full game ($60) which i think is too much, but due to the lack of publicity, i can see this being $30 in a matter of months.

its on only ps4 and switch as far as i know. i heard switch shoots for 30fps and has frequent frame drops and ps4 shoots for 60 and floats around 59, with relatively stable frame pacing.

Didn't Yasuhiro Wada's (Harvest Moon creator) last new IP bomb critically and commercially? Hometown Story was a Recettear-inspired game that even had Atsuko Nishida (the original artist of 20 different Pokemon: including Pikachu, the Kanto starters, 6 Eeveelutions) as a character designer and Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy composer) to do the music. I still don't know how a game with such talent failed so badly.
So excuse me if I'm not holding my breath for The Dragon Cafe.

I remember the lead dev talking about how he hated that Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons became so focused on the romance, so i doubt it. Shame as if it had dating sim elements that would probably sell more people on the game, with Rune Factory dead the market for comfy open ended waifu/adventure games is wide open.

I looked the game up once and it was very similar to SoS-era Harvest Moon. All the cutscenes and such were incredibly slow and the animations were bad. It's pretty obvious that it was made by the SoS guys from that alone. It really hurts both games, especially when they compete with Rune Factory 4 which lets the player be blazing fast if they want to. In Trio of Towns you do your farmwork, talk to everyone in the towns and then the day is pretty much over. In RF4 you can have all your farming and villager chatting done by noon if you're efficient, leaving the rest of the day for dungeon exploration, fishing or whatever else you want to do. I have completely unironically used SoS:ToT as a sleeping aid several times because of how slow the game is.
