Def Jam Fight for NY was amazing, but we'll never get anything like it again. Even ignoring the current line up of Def Jam artists http://www.defjam.com/artists As much fun as it'd be to have Kanye and Beiber slap fight there's not much else the hardcore gangsta era that spawned FFNY and Vendetta has passed.
And even if they did want to go forward either with just the current artists (which would be laughable) or get a whole bunch of the old guys (which would probably be a bit more expensive for people even at the time were probably "who the hell is he" unless you were super into rap) they'd use something other then the AKI engine (which may have grown long in the tooth but would still be better then anything else off the shelf).
Could be worse, they EA could have ignored how badly ICON bombed and kept beating it's corpse for sheckles. Oh also EA would be the ones to develop it so there's no hope

It's relevant but only due to sheer size. Far as I know anyone truly into wrestling watches Indies as WWE offers nothing special apart from the size of the roster.
