What are you working on? Do any new soft mods or hard mods recently? Looking to get a new project going? Just need some help?

I'm personally looking for an adequate USB DVD/CD RW. If anyone happens to know any, please share it. I'm looking to streamline my existing setup for preparing back up loads. Oh and I'm also getting one of those chink SATA PS2 adapters, they seem fine and I'd like to get a terabyte drive in my PS2. Already going to be upgrading to a terabyte Xbox SATA drive because I bought a Kingwin SSD/SATA to IDE Bridge Board and they appear to work just fine, I already have an 80-pin IDE cable installed which did improve read/write times, for example if something like Vice City took 15 seconds to load it now took 10-11. It even loads games faster than an xbox one does through backwards compatibility.

What's a SATA/IDE adapter that'll work with an XBOX and preferably a PS2 too?

Looks like I found what i wanted.

Should be fine for the XBOX

Problem is I need some way to connect the board to the PS2 network adapter because I'm left with pins on the board and a regular male plug on the adapter and I can't just plug the board directly on the adapter, would plugging some right angled pin headers in the adapter and using a small IDE cable do the job?

As to why I'm not simply modding my existing adapter to take SATA straight off, I'm just masochistic and want my adapter to stay stock if possible, I also don't trust chink SATA adapter to work well at all since i already have a few that fail to work properly

Which console is easier to put Linux on, a PS3 or an Xbox 360?

95ceef  No.15431111

Just did a softmod of my Xbox HUEG a week ago, but my PS2 is currently in use more so into the storage it went. Additionally: after I had cloned the harddrive, I shut down the system and disconnected everything. I decide to put the old hard drive aside, and after disconnecting the new HD and reconnecting the CD drive, I connect the new drive and assemble everything. I reboot the console and I celebrate because everything is working like charm. So, I pick up the old HD and wonder: could I read this with my IDE to USB converter I used? So I pick up… the new hard drive. Turns out I reassembled the old HD in the XBOX again. Minor fuckup aside, thing works great.

A question: I have installed PS2PSXe on my PS2, but when I play the games the textures and music get horribly corrupted. Any help in this regard?

Well you're playing games through a shitty emulator so no you can't really do anything in that regard, maybe POPStrater is better, but yeah anything that isn't burnt disc for PS1 on PS2 is a nogo if you want issue free.

playing ps1 games with ps2psxe does run bad because it is emulating the games on the ps2, unlike running ps1 games native in a ps2 from disc where it gets all the help from the chips. i tried it too and had the same results like you mentioned

You know, that's still better than the N64 version.

I listed a SATA to IDE adapter in the OP. I was doing some research about PS2 SATA adapters as well and apparently the chink ones are fine, but I won't know until about two weeks from now. My secret to finding supported adapters and drives is to go on amazon, search for splinter cell xbox and see the first results for what shoppers also bought.

As for SATA on the PS2 I think you can get the same kind of adapter that I listed for the Xbox but that means you'll have to get a 2.5" drive and flip it as a 3.5" one may be too big to fit in the caddy well. It's gonna be an awkward fit I think. It's why I'm trying out a chink adapter.

>I listed a SATA to IDE adapter in the OP

Yeah i realized this after posting, although it lead me to a video comparing it to a startech one and showing that it's pretty shit performance wise.

So i'm going startech seeing ts the chink/kingwin ones don't fit in a PS2 at all to top it off.

>but that means you'll have to get a 2.5" drive

Considering I'm going with an SSD because I've got several spare ones It's not an issue, 2.5" is preferable regardless because less noise and strain on the PSU of the console (that startup 20w peak is pretty nasty on older PS2s), that and now that 1/2TB 2.5" HDD are a widespread thing and rather cheap there's no reason not to.

You know, that's pretty fucking compelling, I'm gonna order the startech one right now. Thanks.

> 2.5" is preferable

only issue is you'll probably want to give it support as it may be in a hanging position, and you probably don't want the risk of a drive flopping around.

Different ID but thank you, I thought those emulators were quite stable. Too bad, I had some games I wanted to play on there.

A play-station 3.

i've had good luck with the orico usb enclosures. my cd rw is still in a box in a closet so i can really only speak to their hdd enclosure quality.

cable ties are basically magic, just latch some around the screws.

you can put linux on your ps3 because you're not putting games in it anyway
