To be honest the first one was called Hitman: Codename 47, so there is effectively no other game in the series just called "Hitman".
So I pirated Hitman today and played a little, the tutorial and the first two real mission. After turning off all the retard-proof shit that helps you the game did start getting a lot more enjoyable. The second map especially had surprisingly a lot more ground to explore than I expected, but I am not sure if I figured out the point of it all. Though it had some annoying shit like I was on the roof and wanted to go to the other side of the roof, but couldn't just because an invisible wall was blocking me.
I am not sure how to feel about the disguising. It is definitely not as retarded as it used to be in Absolute, though. I mean, to an extend it does make sense that people would recognise you as an unfamiliar face, depending on the setting, but also it wouldn't work too good with the game. Maybe the way they nurfed it with only someone people being able to recognise you is the good middle point, but maybe not.
The AI being dumb, well, I think plenty was said about that in the thread.
I am not sure how I feel about the different assassination methods either. They don't feel as random as previous games. They are often like some scripted chain of events. And I realize ultimately everything is scripted, but the flow of it doens't always feel natural enough. Honestly having the opportunities and shit turned on doesn't only dumb down the game, it takes a lot away of it. There is so much that it is easy to miss if you are just moving from one check point to another. Also it is kind of dumb how the target NPCs basically don't run away no matter what, so as long as you are no death there is no way to fail the mission. Does being seeing on the cameras at least make you more likely to be seen on other maps? I would guess not.
Sucks a little I have no ratings, because I am playing pirated and so offline, but it is easy to imagine what Silent Assassin is.
The optimization is not optimal, but then again partly I might have to blame Nvidia for that. I still can play a lot of games on 60fps with my gtx780, but this one I can't. Neither can I The Witcher 3 for example. Low or Ultra or whatever, it just doesn't matter, it is all the same. But put the framerate to 60 and it all goes to shit. But then again CDPR did say originally the game will be optimized for 30fps and Hitman also runs at 30fps on the consoles. Though I know that the 9xx were able to run The Witcher 3 at 60 just fine. Well, I might be buying a new GPU soonish. No, I don't want to get an RTX, though.
Denuvo was removed from Hitman and it doesn't seem like it is coming back for Hitman 2. And the fact they give you the first game for free is also pretty nice. The only problem is if it is going to be always online again. I mean, I get some of the online options maybe can be fun and stuff, but it doesn't have to be attached to the single player as well and take away the ratings just because you play offline. But I guess the excuse is to not cheat in the meme online rankings or something? I might actually consider buying it and it would be the first game I have bought in a long time, but only if I can pirate it to try it out first. WB supposedly don't own the studio, so maybe there is hope for no Denuvo. I am itching to buy something after Yakuza 0 cucked with Denuvo.
