You can't just go connect to their servers unless you're spoofing the console's information, which would be quite the effort to work out what needs to be sent and modified.
At best NetPlay, but that took Dolphin God-knows how long, and would lead to lots of cheating with either solution.

Not very.
Cemu still has issues so I have to use a softmodded Wii U to get any consistent performance. People put too much faith in these newer emulators. RPCS3 still has issues and outright doesn't work with many titles. You'll be waiting years just to have a handful of worthwhile titles that work with plenty that still don't function correctly. Newer emulators are pretty shit tbh.

Well this thread got derailed quickly.
In any case, I'm pretty excited about any progress on Switch emulation mainly because of Smash Ultimate. After seeing what people were able to do with Brawl and Melee in Dolphin, I look forward to what kind of mods will be made to Ultimate. That and I don't want to give Nintendo any money whatsoever, especially after their fuckery with ROM sites.
Furthermore, I think progress on the emulator will be really fast. The Switch's hardware is a well-documented Nvidia tablet and people like SciresM are already cracking open the Switch's OS. Plus, I find that emulators for Nintendo consoles tend to progress faster than others (see Dolphin vs PCSX2). Perhaps it's because extreme autists love Nintendo shit to death and really want to play their games on PCs.
