The reason why the right gets far more blame than the left when it comes to video game censorship, is because we were largely kids at the time and so the workings of government were remote to our everyday lives. Whereas on the right, you had religious icons and talk radio personalities and news station editorials all screaming about the dangers (both satanic and pedestrian) of video games, and how parents have to either monitor closely what their children are allowed access to - or outright restrict their consumption. That was, as you'd expect, far more personal to most of us - and since it was coming from our parents, preachers, radios, newspapers, and television boxes… there was little escape from it. If your parents fell for the bullshit, then you had to rely on that one friend who's parent either knew better or didn't give a fuck to go over to their house and play the "bad" video games like Mortal Kombat or DOOM.
Also, anybody else find it really ironic that Night Trap was released on the Switch and fairly well advertised - despite being the game that Howard Lincoln used to browbeat Sega over how damaging it was to kids and advocate for censorship (which just so happened to align with their family friendly marketing - and opposed the edgier and more teen/mature image Sega was trying to cultivate)
Also, the game was complete shit - and I see absolutely no point in a modern re-release. It doesn't work on it's own as a game worth owning - because it's not, and it doesn't work as a bit of collectable history since it's a modern reproduction. If you want a piece of history, get the original game and a SegaCD.

You can 100% import the game. SNK does their localizations in house and the japanese version includes all the languages.
SNK also self publishes in japan and they actually did a normal PS4 release unlike the kikes NISA did where they made the only PS4 physical release an exclusive to their store's limited edition.
Alternatively you can wait for the self-published NISA-free PC version which is all but officially confirmed (the company that did KoF XIV's port accidentally leaked that they were doing it at e3 in their company's brochure).
Unlike every thing else NISA has sunk their cancerous claws into, you can actually still get SNK's stuff without their filth attached.
