In that while it's strictly speaking better, it'll become apparent that the game was made with the assumption that the player hadn't disabled it resulting in bullshit. Actually now that I think about it further there's a lot of potential for a game as long as you're not Saitama as far as how they constructed the universe. The in world ranking system would determine who you get called on to fight, leading to a natural progression from shitty mooks to gigantic monsters as you rank higher and higher. Just give MC a generic "his power is that of the potential to become anything by absorbing the strength of enemies" blah blah to give you a branching power path as well as varied move sets. You could include options to join alliances with other groups like with Fubuki's to unlock team fighting. And if you totally ignore side quests they get inexplicably solved when nobodies looking by a certain caped baldy. You could also get powerups and gifts from how popular you are with fans as well. There's already in world tournaments for super people to fight so you even have shitty tournaments to join in.
The plot would also be silly and nonsensical as any attempt at a deeper conflict just gets mopped up by Saitama in the end

Mysterio is just an illusionist, but he got his hands on some macguffin in one of those games to make him a real magic.
The only exception is when the person in question is a real jobber, lacks brains, or lacks skill to be the head or major cause of all ills (Rhino, Shocker, Chameleon, Scorpion)
Venom has been done to death, Green Goblin has a bad rep from the movies, so I guess they went with the first "major" antagonist they could think of. Doc Ock. He has the nice mirror to Pete in some aspects (scientist using his gift after an accident irresponsibly), but it's been done better in other media before I assume (depends what he does in this game).
Except Fisk would have been a fine main villain. He's human sure, but showing his connections to get serious threats would have gone a long way. Not to mention showing how far his empire spreads when stopping even petty theft harms his operations.
Combine that with how his fat/muscle lets him do borderline Superman levels of strength, give him a big dumb Spider Slayer robot to control as a final form, and you've got something.

The web swinging is the only thing I think I could care about when it comes to this game. It's the kind of thing that I can do while listening to a podcast or something. It requires very little effort to do, which is why this is the perfect activity for listening to podcasts. Arkham Knight is an interesting game with an interesting story behind it's development and reception.
Before I start i have to mention the PC release was hot garbage at launch and they had to take down the game for 6 months to fix it to where it was actually playable. To this day it is still probably the worst PC launch of a AAA title that's ever been released. Not even the Japs at Capcom botching MHW did worse than the Arkham Knight Release.
Arkham Knight is really just the sum of Rocksteady's work on the franchise over the years. Mechanically, in terms of how fluid and fleshed out the combat, stealth, and side activities are, it is the best game in the series. When comparing it to the first game is where things get interesting.
If you can't already tell, I'm more of a DC guy than a Marvel guy. The reason for this is because of the way DC and Marvel handle their properties. Marvel likes to Re-invent their characters/introduce new characters as much as possible. (Think Miles Spiderman, Female Thor, the large number of crossover appearances that have happened in Marvel's comic publications.) DC is more focused on re-inventing their character's stories rather than the characters themselves (Think Batman v Dracula, the Batman in Japan Movie, Communist Superman: Red Son). When you re-invent your character's so much like Marvel while keeping the same name on them, it will really corrupt the character's identity in the process. Re-inventing their stories is much less superficial and more interesting in my opinion.
That is not to say DC doesn't re-invent characters to. For example, canonically "Robin" has been killed off multiple times only to be replaced by a new young person taking on the mantle of Robin. Funnily enough a lot of people hate the newest Robin because he is so different and corrupts the core of the character in ways that i won't get into detail about.
Overall DC keeps a tight leash on their characters, but gives the partners it licenses out to the creative freedom to change the Setting and Story Line surrounding their characters.
This is why the first game Arkham Asylum is so important. It had a unique take on the setting of Batman. Batman was trapped in Arkham Asylum with only a few gadgets and an island full of looneys too deal with.
Because Rocksteady could stretch the limits of what they could do with the setting they ended up making one of the most interesting metroidvainias of 2009. They did pretty well with the second game by keeping the setting somewhat novel to most audiences.
With Arkham Knight they fully realized Gotham as a huge open world. It wasn't the same as Asylum to most people because it didn't have the same novelty, It was just the same old superhero > open world city > fight bad guy > eat popcorn.
Even though I think Rocksteady's version of Gotham was really creative and unique, (For example how on Founders Island you literally have giant mega companies like Wayne Enterprises and LexCorp building huge corporate skyscrapers over the brick and mortar ruins of Old Gotham)
Most people will write it off as Bland Open World capeshit by comparing it to the old games. Which isn't wrong, but is still a little disingenuous.
Marvel on the other hand says "No it's got to be 100% New York. We only change the characters not the setting. So Insomiac's got to make it 100% Jew York, and they got to throw in Miles so we can add in black Spiderman so the later games can say fresh."
And from that mindset you get a Game World that is virtually identical to fucking LEGO Marvel Superheros. "10/10 best superhero game ever XD. So much better than Bamham." ←- this why i want to murder half the thread.

Arkham Knight had by far the best stealth and combat in the series and that was probably my biggest problem with the game. The core gameplay was fantastic but they had to force the fucking Batmobile in every second mission and while it wasn't absolutely terrible it wasn't very fun either, especially the racing segments, the tank ones were okay. The story was also absolutely awful, I don't actually read comics but even I knew who the Arkham Knight really was from the very beginning on. I still liked it though and it was far superior to Origins, shame that it got such an awful reception just because of the port.
